Just wondering about this one, more and more drivers are leaving Losi to race Xray's or whatever and less and less XXX-S' are making national A finals (even though they won mod and 19t titles). Losi's at my local club are going from top of the A final to struggling to get in the A final, what's up? Is the XXX-S old hat now?
I'm very tempted to change cars, what do you lot reckon?

hell no, the car is still awesome. drivers can be tempted away by more than just cars. ie, terms of deals, of like most club drivers, just for somethign different for a while.
i'll not be changing mine for a long time. (except maybe for a new xxx-s G+)

I agree with Chris, it was at the top of its game this year, and probably will be again next year!

its also not as if it has been the same since it came out. there have been quite a few changes/mods on it from what I understand.
i had an early xxx-s, and was going to start using it again. I had a parts list so long that it was better just to order a new G+ kit! ::)

Yeah the XXXs rocks!!! ;D I wouldnt change mine I love it. Wouldn't mind a G+ but im not made of money. I think the standard XXXs is good enough especially with a 'few' hop ups ;)

more people at top level are given x ray's or tc3's to race.

true point, the xray and associated TEAM is huge.....

But at club level, can it still cut it?
At my local track, Losi's just don't seem to be good enough. In stock they just don't have the corner speed like the other cars now. I used to able to win the A final without too much hassle, now I can't even get in the A final, it's the same for everyone else who uses the Losi.
The A final is now a few TC3s, one Yokomo (which probably wouldn't win if it wasn't for the driver) and a couple of Tamiya Evo 3's. No Losi's whatsoever! Look at the 27t national A finals and there is no Losi's, in 19t there was one Losi, in mod there was 3 at max.

liam, with all due respect, your car musn't be working to the top of it's ability!! admittidly, myself and michael have been struggling slightly for the past year, but recently, we've been right up there again. there are a number of small changes which transform the car.
using none offset rear hubs helped, rear pivot support on the front, and new camber link position transform the car. i'll e-mail you a set up sheet now....

that's the problem, I take the car to any other club and it is absolutely fantastic (it was the highest qualifying Losi at the Junior nats a few months ago). I go and race at my local track and it's off the pace! >:(
Although a few people at my local track have recently been accused of cheating and a few are known to have cheated in the past, so maybe it's not the car!

At my club, most people cant usually get near me, it's on if not the freest car there, and with the amount of TC3's and Xrays in the hands of good drivers it usually a talking point. I have done nothing special to the car, I use the offset hubs with the standard G+ camber link positions and a few minor changes and I wouldn't change it for the world. I will admit I have struggled a bit on tarmac through the year running Mod but allot of that was learning a new car, and thus I have learnt allot more about setup this year than any other car in the meaning of with changing something what it dose and why it dose it.(note I do run standard hubs on tarmac)
I do run the G+ and not the xxxs, however there is a xxxs at the club and he has had a noticeable improvement with his driving, I will say we run on Prima felt Pro with foams, and the G+ had allot of its revision for this combination.

to be honest, everyone is running the losi's pretty close to std on tarmac, ie none offset hubs and origional (ish) camber link holes.
the + geometry seems firmly geared at carpet racing. it took me a while to get over this!! lol

I race a standard XXX-S and am interested in learning more about these tweaks. Do you happen to know the part numbers for the bits I'd need to fit to my car or are they just the parts on the G+?
Thanks

none offset rear hubs are std on the std xxx-s. simply get another rear pivot support, and place it on the front of the car, and the new camber link is a dremel and drill job.
between holes 2+3 on the front, 3mm higher.

Ill have to give that a go next time I'm on the black stuff. ;D
I did try a rear support on the front at the club Sunday on carpet and it gave it horrific under steer through and exiting the corner but turned into the corner initially very well. So I cant wait to try it outside, just what I'm looking for my driving style.

I don't fancy attacking my car with a dremel so has anyone got the part numbers of what I need to turn my XXX-S into one with G+ spec geometry? That's probably where my car is lacking!

the only part of g+ geometry im using is the alternative suspension mounts. i've actually returned most of the car to std xxx-s geometry.
(not using lower holes on rear shock tower, std hubs, etc etc..)
the new stuff seems aimed at getting the car to pivot harder for tight indoor carpet tracks. not whats needed on tarmac.
