View Full Version : The Mold National was last weekend ....
....and Clive was there!!
Well done to Jim and Andy for winning their respective days in style.
I'd just like to say thank you to everyone for making it such a great weekend. It was great fun. Particularly thank you to Roger, Matt and Ben for set-ups and moral support, Mold Club for the organisation (including compact and bijou pitting areas!) everyone in the D Final on Sunday for putting up with me (especially Trish - I am still very sorry) and Nigel for reminding me that I remember when he last won a Championship!
Teeside here I come - and if that doesn't keep the entry numbers down ...... ;D

Yep, really nice weekend, well done to Jim and Andy for winning!
Well done to Matt Rice aswell for making his first A final!
Thanks to all the BRCA people for running the meeting and the Mold club for laying out which is in my opinion, the best track so far - sure Matt will agree with that anyway! :)
Roll on Teesside!

I'll echo Liam's thoughts. Great weekend.
Kyle got 2 D finals, with me in the E both days :'(
Marquee racing is different, just with I had brighter colored bodyshells!

i must say i do prefer smaller tracks, like MK, (this) mold, south shields etc etc. it makes the car so dependent on setup and every mistake is severly punished.
the track design was excellent, i few hick-ups on the way, which were eventually resolved extremely well and i praise the comitee, especially russ giles, for making decisions that the racers wanted, well done.
thanks again to clive, top man for keeping everything on-time, and being able to resolve the heat 8 round 2 disaster!.... no-one has owned upto it yet though! ;D
as constructive critism goes, the marquee wasnt favourite by people, and the pitting wasnt ideal.
the 10-cars finals work so much better IMHO, and even on a small tracks like mold, they still work.
PDW... last season nigels lucky chassis was that chassis from 1983 (i think)... clear fibreglass type stuff, very wierd looking!
thanks for the praise... now i need to make some more! everyone was very supportive of me.
it was such a shame that the A-final on day 2 (which i wasnt in ;)) was so dirty at the start.... but you cant take any credit away from th winners on both days, top job lads! :D
thanks everyone.... liam when does 12th scale definately race at teeside? club nights?
thanks again

Not sure how the heat 8 problem actually happened. I was marshalling very close, and i didn't see what bought the first bit up. There wasn't really anything that could be done. At least 4 cars had come to grief already. We tried to get some tape over, but there was no way we could have sorted it quick enough.
There wasn't a perfect solution to sort it, just a best compromise and i think that's what we had.
It was the sort of track where racing incedents happened easily i think. We said before the 1st final on sat that anything could happen!!

Matt
Teesside Club nights.
If drivers turn up on Saturday night they can race. Obviously it would help if you got together with a few others so that there was a decent turn out. Doors open at 4.30. Racing starts about 6.00
Liam and Alan have also organised a few Sunday races and the Warehouse is available if another one is wanted before the National. Just let us know.

What a funny weekend.
Didn't like the look of the track when I got there, a bit worried about the pitting space, but everything worked out okay in the end. ;D
The tent was not ideal, certainly made it different.
I did think the track layout was good, a nice variety of corner, although it might have been a problem being so tight if there wasn't so much grip available.
Had a really enjoyable time in the pits, great laugh.
Always amazes me how much fun 12th is (when it's going right ;))
And to Matt Rice, thanks and right back at ya for your A final result, excellent 8)
