Hi guys, just a silly question, I built my first Losi a month or so ago so new to the xxx4, when I first built it I had games in setting up the slipper and then the diffs in respect the buggy had lots of drive train but no go, I have just serviced the diffs after Tiverton and just done a quick carpet blast and lots of rear spin and little front! seems resonable just tighten the front diff but it has got me wondering about some of the rear end grip problems I seem to have been having, I know its difficult to explain but how tight should you run the diffs or is this another way of tuning the buggy? Would having the front diff to tight cause the rear end to be less influencial in corners? I know a Cat 3000 that ran a virtual locked front diff that seemed to drag the rear round almost front wheel drive style that I had trouble keeping up with where as I had little rear grip, I realise other setup issuses come into play but this has suddenly made me think its a avenue to get the grip I need for my style ??? I have been thinking of the even trying the 41t diff cog in the front as I am chasing this rear end grip...Any thoughts would be magic but I am determined to get it better for Tiverton 4th Jan so lots of testing over xmas....Cheers....Ian

For 4wd on slippy surfaces loosen front diff to gain on power steering, too loose and its starts spinning, too tight and its hard to get the car through the turn, i.e. it kinda binds up and pushes.

The rear is much the same really, too tight the car will be sluggish in tight corners. Too loose and it can start diffing out (inside wheel lighting up) although this is pretty rare on 4wd, very common on 2wd.

Its a bit personal preference but I run the rear so it only spins for a fraction of a second when spin one of the wheels, and run the front looser, i.e. spins twice as long. (this is very hard to describe!!)

Thanks for the advice, I have tried the buggy today with the diffs like you say on grass and I can feel an improvement allready with the rear as I think I have been running the rear diff to loose, I nipped it up last night and after I read your post was quite happy with the amount I tightened it as I know what you mean about the spinning and nipped up the front a bit, its nice when something goes right for a change, Thanks again....Ian
