Can someone please recommend to me a tyre choice for this car. Front and rear. I just want something that will perform on carpet and tarmac..Ie jack of all trades master of none. I appreciate there are loads but just a set to get me started and use as a baseline so I can get used to characteristics of car and change from there. Would Corally silver front and gold rear be a choice??

Cheers in advance.

My questions show my ineptitude

basleine would be

carpet:-

jaco/trc purple fronts and grey rears

corally silver fronts, gold rears

for tarmac, the yanks are big on pink rears and purple front, and this combination can also be used quite effectively on carpet.. however it is not BEST suited to carpet, but it will work

that what you were after?

Daniel - there is no such thing as ineptitude; only varying degrees of experience. Keep asking, we all learn from the answers!

Nothing to do with your question mind, Mr Rice has sewn that up for you!! Just thought that you should know... about ineptitude... so I said it... so I'm off now... Bye! :)

Matt,

When you say "pinks" for tarmac, do you mean TRC/Jaco Pinks or UFRA pinks or some other make? (I assume you mean TRC purple fronts)

Daniel - to compare compounds from UFRA to TRC, use the Shore number. On the back of a TRC box it gives the Shore number against the colour. UFRA do the same - simply compare one to the other.

The Shore number is an absolute reading of the hardness of the rubber. If they quote a Shore number, you can compare one make to another. Don't forget that the Shore number will have a tolerance, so you might get as different a feel between one batch of TRC tyres to another, as well as from one UFRA tyre to one TRC tyre. It doesn't mean the numbers are wrong. HTH. :)
