Can anyone shed for light on how to prevent play (slop) on the cyclone diffs (standard Kit).. I can't see how shims, will prevent sideways play ??? I have build the diffs as per instructions, and they run well and are fairly smooth, but the amount of side-to-side movement when they are installed is shocking, especially the front diff.

Any ideas on the best way to fix this problem ?

Cheers

They're all the same Raymond, and from what I've been told, its not a problem.

Cheers Garry. I haven't experienced a problem with the diffs as yet, just when checking over the car after last night, I noticed that the play was pritty bad, but I suppose if the transmission is working ok, I guess I shouldn't worry. No doubt if you were to upgrade to the alloy diff casings/delrin outdrives, it would no doubt solve the problem. I looked at my oneway in my spares box, and the way that is put together is much better.

The complete diff should be shimmed ok if you build it as kit. if you're on about side to side play in the pulley itself, then dont worry. The pulley will straighten up and run true when the transmission spools up.

I have the aluminium outdrivesand narrow pulleys, and they're just as bad :D
