What's this got to do with me!

To be all honest, I don't have the slightest clue what it is - so i'm not going to trouble Matt's purple stars :-

*Oops, just read the rctech thread properly and it's some strange thing from Japan :-[

tomlau
15-10-2003, 10:49 AM

Okay you got it. Easy when someone else points you in the right direction Tom!

So, onto Q2, has anyone use the M300 here, contrary to comments in other places, it is basically an AE "clone" of sorts.

acurry
15-10-2003, 05:07 PM
Mike

Have run m300 about four five yrs ago in 6cell form yes ae based car handled fairly well came with bronze anodised alloy very nice indeed.

Posted on behalf of James Garrett aka Big Jimmy G

Hi guys,

After teasing poor Matt and Liam, here is one for you Mike - what is this
one?

No cheating and asking Marcus tho.... hehehehehe

James.

MikeS
15-10-2003, 11:42 PM
Hmm, looks like a PTI to me........

marcoski
16-10-2003, 12:00 AM
PTI ???

MikeS
16-10-2003, 12:02 AM
PTI Virus ???

Just taking another look, it is similar to a Virus, and is very much in the PTI style but now I don't think it is a Virus, unless it is a Virus development/proto chassis?

Hmmmmm

marcoski
16-10-2003, 12:03 AM
LOL if thats a car (not a 12th man myself!) then thats one red star in the bag!!

LouisB
16-10-2003, 12:09 AM
PTI Virus ???

Just taking another look, it is similar to a Virus, and is very much in the PTI style but now I don't think it is a Virus, unless it is a Virus development/proto chassis?

Hmmmmm

I know what you mean, with the battery position and the 2 shock setup.

MikeS
16-10-2003, 12:11 AM
And the chassis doubler, it is just those side links that are familiar, but not PTI.
Hmmm, looks a little HPI'ish too........?

marcoski
16-10-2003, 12:13 AM
Thats worth half a red star, 3 1/2 left ;D ;D still cold in the guess department!

MikeS
16-10-2003, 12:19 AM
Feel free to chip in anyone....LOL

marcoski
16-10-2003, 12:22 AM
LOLOLOLOLOLOL its a bit of a snotter isnt it - thought we would set a worthy challenge ;D ;D ;D

MikeS
16-10-2003, 01:28 AM
Hmmm, this is really bugging me, I'm pretty sure I have seen something very similar to this twin link system, just not with the twin angled damper untis.

It's not one of Glyns creations is it..........?

marcoski
16-10-2003, 01:41 AM
Noooooo 2 1/2 stars ........ :D :D ;D

MikeS
16-10-2003, 01:49 AM
Ooooh, harsh!

Think I shall have to think a bit more on this one before I take another go....LOL

marcoski
16-10-2003, 01:50 AM
I know a car that wil get on your nerves, get on your nerves, get on your nerves..... :P

Big Jimmy G
17-10-2003, 12:30 AM
Well, it's not a proto chassis - I ran it this evening, fully kitted out and it was GREAT!!!!!

If anyone likes a chassis that gives bucket fulls of very usable and controlable turn in and on throttle steering, this is the one.

If you want a clue, look more closely at the front end - for once not as Associated spin off...

James.

Glenn Atterton

Corally based front pre SP12M ?

marcoski
17-10-2003, 01:20 PM

KRob
17-10-2003, 02:37 PM
Can I join in?
I would guess that it's American and not Japanese or European.

marcoski
17-10-2003, 03:28 PM
By all means join in!! But EEEEEEEEEEEHHHH wrong answer!!! - well I suppose it is european.....

LisaKeen
17-10-2003, 03:36 PM
I know what it is..., I know what it is..... but im not going to spoil Marcus's fun. :P

KRob
17-10-2003, 09:51 PM
Well I still don't know what it is >:(

But it does appear to have quite a long wheelbase.

MikeS
17-10-2003, 10:00 PM
Damm, Keith, I thought you might know it!

I recognise those front suspension parts, and the front body posts (HPI'ish?) and that rear trailing link set-up, but I just can't recall seeing it all together on one chassis like that.

I will continue to rack my brain to see if I can recollect it.

(No comments please Marcus......)

Glenn Atterton
17-10-2003, 10:21 PM
Can it be bought over the counter in Europe as a rolling chassis?

MattW
17-10-2003, 10:35 PM
I thought i recognised the front end, but checked some known pics and i would have been wrong!!

Ian
17-10-2003, 11:24 PM
i need more time captain! i caney figue it out man!

LOL

thinking, thinking some more..... ::)

Late I know - but I think that is a Kyosho of mid-80's vintage.

Sorry no idea about the latest challenge.

KRob
18-10-2003, 12:12 AM
Mike, I think they are Associated body posts and a really old Associated front suspension set up.

I must be mad, I have to be up in 5 hours to drive to Macc - and I'll probably forget to charge my cells or something as I try to work out what it is. :P

Big Jimmy G
18-10-2003, 01:44 PM
Well, you are right about the front posts being Associated type. The two shocks are also very similar to the VCS ones I think.

OK, so it looks as if you chaps need some hints...

1 - the front end is made from nylon, not graphite plastic.
2 - rear acel is graphite / carbon.
3 - servo posts are not even listed as an option.
4 - some screws / bolts seem to be imperial, some are metric....

Hope that helps some. Good luck to all of you who are off to Mac this weekens. Can't join you I'm afraid. I guess if you want to see it in the flesh you have better come up to our Winter series where I will be using it....

James

Big Jimmy G
21-10-2003, 07:45 PM
OK, so no more guesses then?

What? You all given up so easily? I am ashamed of you...

All will be revealed by the end of the evening....

James
