Think you will find it is the motor AND speed controler, a brushless motor requires a diferent type of controler.

Check out the thread "basil, how it works" in speedos and radio gear for further reading.

ok ive read it and it is very informative (from what i could understand) so it costs £200 because of all the hi teh stuff it has in it im guessing
Because it is made in low volumes, because the manufacturer has to make a return on all his investment within a couple of years, because there has to be a margin for the distributor and retailer but most of all because .......
A top-line speedo and modified motor of the current design costs about the same, and that is the price the market will pay!
If nobody buys them, the price will come down irrespective of anything written in the first paragraph.

I bought Lehner brushless motr and Schulze ESC for myself. My kids see the power and the speed, so I was thinking the Novak has better warranty and it looks easier for them to setup. So I think i will get it for them.

Would be interested to hear about that comparison.
I've got the Novak SS in my B4. It's absolutely brilliant and worth every penny. The amount of torque it has is just sick.. ;D

I am going to take both motors are run them in my TC3 at halifax to compare. The Lehner has unbelievable power.
I have a cheap 11t brushed motor and run it with a Novak GT7 ESC - That is nothing in comparison. I am new to electric - the Lehner is my first brishless motor. I can not believe all the low end torque it has. My TC3 tires spin out like crazy when I pull the trigger full throttle from a stand still.

I can imagine :-):-d
but I've almost heard nothing but complaints about the novak brushless system.. They say you can compare it to a good 11 turns? I really don't know because I haven't tried it yet 8)
I'm using a hacker c40/7s and a schulze 88Ce controller and all I can say is WOOOOOOW!!!!! the torque and top speed of these things is INCREDIBLE!! I can drive with my gp3300 pack almost twice as long with the same gearing as I use with an 11x2 corally pure gold en the top speed is MUCH higher, really amazing stuff!!
within a few weeks we're gonna try to set some records in eindhoven on an oval track.. I've built a pan car chassis (looks like the associated rc10L3 but now for ten cells and first I'll put in a brushed motor, like a 12 or so.. and then I'm gonna put my brushless in the car :)
But Ill let u know the details...
Cheers!!

Sounds cool - When it is all said and done, I am going to put the Novak in my kids bandit.
I have a Novak SS and really like it, ive had some interference problems but they seem to be sorted now. proformance is great, but the best bit i think is the no maintanance, after a race i just leave it and go off to marshal, never anything to do to it. And the runtime is amazing. The first one i had failed on me but i sent it back to Novak and i got a brand new system.
