I was wonderring when i built the kit, what difference was in the gold bearings vs silver (normal) bearings.

I put the golds in front and normal silver bearings in rear hubs, oh, and degreased and lightly oiled from new.

The car has raced 3 times now, and rear bearings have gone very gritty which won't go after a long soak in thinners. And front bearings are as good as new.

Are the Gold sheilded bearings ceramic? Are there any better aftermarket bearings available or are the gold ones the best?

Chris

did you take the sheilds off to soak them ? i cant remember if i took one side or both off but it definately helped to get rid of the gritty feeling...
i thought mine were bad because of worcester and the batley clay but you have only driven indoors is that right chris ?

The gold bearings are a different thickness.

BB126-2     HEAVY DUTY 6 X 12MM BEARINGS
BB126-4    HEAVY DUTY 6 X 12mm BEARINGS (4)
BB126N-T    NMB HEAVY DUTY 12 X 6mm BEARINGS

Put the gold ones in the front (3.5 mm wide) and the silver in the rear (4mm wide).

I think everybody gets this wrong as the instructions are vague to say the least.

It doesn't matter anyway as you can't get the 3.5mm bearings from anybody but Yokomo and when you get fed up of breaking front knuckles then you will go to fatsrax alloy hubs which use the smaller TC bearing anyway ...... well a lot of people do.
