thinking of getting this as a entry car to the 1/10 touring class. Looks like it can do an honest job anyone ran one these or know of them, is there anything i should immediately change from the off or can it do a job from the box to start with. racing on carpet. any tips would be great cheers.

I have ran it with a vegaand as the car was only bought for a clubnight car to save the proper car for next year i am very very pleased with it except the motor mount is a pile of f***ing sh*t!!!

then change it
there are upgrades you can get for the cyclone s dont know about the motormount but will ask andy if hes there lol.

all the options fit
though mine had had a 19 turn and a brushless system which is around a 9 turn and not problems what so ever with the motor mount

in what way?

in what way?

you cant get a low enough gear ratio for 19t indoors so have had to go to 48dp spur witch is nearly rubbing the floor its so big

bye the way the dog bones are fine except for the fronts indoors as you cant turn too hard so my end points on the 3vcs are at 40%

I can get a low enough gear ratio no probs. What size spur and pinion were you trying to run?

Only time I've had a problem was with the 13.5 brushless stock motor when I originally tried it, I couldn't fit a small enough pinion with the standard spur, so i fitted a bigger spur.

Then I had to gear up so much I went back to the original spur. The only reason I had that problem, is because the Novak motor doesn't have a pair of offset holes.

I've got the Cyclone S, but its not really an 'S' now. ;)

I ran it box stock for a couple of weeks in 27t at my local club, it went great once I figured out the right gear ratio for it.

Now its got about 80% of the 3 Racing purple alloy on it, and their carbon chassis set. Looks very nice!

i finally gave the cyclone a run out. As stated before by matthew the motor mount is a farce i wasnt able to run the gear ratios they suggested in the manual in fact the smallest one the 34t wouldnt mesh at all it was nowhere near. in the end a guy at the trackside shop helped me out he had to dremel a bit of the bulk head away to move the motor in closer and fitted a 100t spur and just about got it.

didnt get the car right till the final heat had the normal newbie problems shell cut out too small, diffs too tight but once all this was sorted the car was a dream to drive was on polished floor so the drifiting was great fun. i have to look into a diferent motor mount and will be rebuilding the diffs tonight as there was some very awful sounds coming from them as i backed of the throttle into corners.

All in all fairly happy with the car im i had a ball im hooked on the 1/10th indoors now. what gear ratios did you all use for indoors ??

I dont understand how people cant get the gear ratios. I have ran a 29 to a 44 pinion, and 98 to 110 spur gear. I can get my mesh no probs.

i think he means with a 100 spur the smallest pinion you can mesh is a 34 which is a little overgeared fo 27t

I can run a 29 tooth pinion with a 100 tooth spur, unless I'm using a brushless motor.

i carnt run anything less than 34 with a 100 the motor mount holes are just not elongated enough, let me know how this is possable mate because ive been struggling just lately with ratios lol

vroomtshh
15-11-2006, 10:52 AM
Are you using both sets of holes on the motor?

ian@derby
15-11-2006, 11:34 AM
tried both,my cyclone is one of the origanal kits and i take it the sport has a simular motor mount although not a machined mount like mine

3 Racing do some 16t, 17t and 18t centre pulleys, they may help by changing the internal ratio.

I have an original Cyclone as well. And you can definitely get a 29 tooth pinion on with a 100 tooth spur. I wld think that somethings not right somewhere

ive just tried again using all the hole possabilities i could without any joy,the car is exactly as it should be being as mr moore prepared it for me

No idea then. Maybe you should do a search on ebay for a motor mount, that definitely allows the use of a 29tooth pinion ;)

hi ian little ian here have you asked andy about the probs? im sure if anyone knows its him as he tested the car.

ian@derby
15-11-2006, 04:28 PM
its not to much of a problem guys, ill use a bigger spur, ian im not at the club this week because ill be on bbc1 for children in need so ill see you week after

Any answers come up on this motor mount farce yet ??

Stew Noble

I really cant see what the problem is, using a 108 spur -the largest that'll fit- i can get ratios up to 10.13.
Surely the answer to all your issues is to use a larger spur....

vroomtshh
20-11-2006, 02:07 PM
I've run a 110 spur before, with no problems too.

Stew Noble
20-11-2006, 02:19 PM
Yes a 110 can be fit but it does protrude outside the underside of the chassis, leaving it relativly vunerable.
I wouldn't really recommend doing this to a newer racer, at which the Cyclone S is aimed.
10.1 should easily accommodate all stock and 19t motors indoors.
