Indoor (carpet) season is just about to get underway here at my local club.
I am fortunate enough to have a 414M2 and a EVO3.
Which do you think would be the better chassis to campaign for the season?

thanks

the best thing to do is try both...

both are just as good as each other, my preference being the 414 for now.

somehow i see this becoming another shaft Vs belt thread!

You have the luxury of choice! I cant even afford 1 of them!! :'(

well i've seen 414s going for as little as £160 online, which is crazy when you consider that would only buy a ta04 here

yeah the uk tamiya prices are extortionate compared to asia. I say 414, but i'be never tried an evo

According to Richard Isherwood, the 414 for indoors. The Evo suffers for torque steer which is very noticible indoors.

Well if Ishy says 414 then I'm going EVO3 !!

I actually got lucky and picked both cars up second hand at good prices, right place right time I guess!!
Also are we all talking about the EVO with a front diff?
I can imagine it being a handful with the one way

I tried my 414 indoor on a tight track with a one-way.... flat-out down the straight, touch the brake.. it was like handbrake into the corner and drift the back round. Looked good but ot fast!

IMO a front one-way is amost always better. I use one on our tight indoor track and have found no need to switch to a diff. Just adjust your driving style to suit and you'll be a lot faster.

...who uses brakes anyway!

First time out with a one way I did the handbrake trick !
Adjusted both my setup and driving style, and now find that unless I have to change direction very unexpectedly, then I love it.
But I have yet to really try it on carpet.
Also anyone tried the SSG chassis yet?
worth the money or not?

If you can still get it then get the SSG chassis and other bits. It looks real nice, plus moves everything closer to the center line for better transitional handling. Get the l/w bulkheads too if your trying to save some grams.

When running the oneway you should set the rear droop to 0mm. (i.e when the car sits at ride height the chassis cannot move up, without preloading the shocks) It should help stabilise the car comming off power/light breaking

I think that the TB Evo III looks a better car than the 414! The TB is a lot better for the money and a lot cheaper than the 414.

If it was my choice I would go for the TB Evo III! ;D

yeah, but you cant judge a car by its looks. if you by online the 414 is alot cheaper, about £100. But if you want either of these cars you should buy online anyway, the price is rediculous here.

We could argue about this for days. Any more says or should we wrap this thread up?

Yeah I do, flirting with the rules again re encouraging buying online and slamming the UK.
