Hi Kriss
Do you mean saddle packs etc as the BC will take these no problem.I have used them myself with no mods required :)

at the interclub i used our spare car, the BC, not the special and i had to use my dads stick packs, not my saddle packs as they do not fit in.
but on the 2003 spec car they do i think.

The standard BC will have a problem fitting newer, longer cells (like some NiMH's) in side-by-side configuration. This is because the moulded chassis is an old design, and the slots are 1mm or so too short.
Solution is a dremel tool and plenty of time to grind the ribs at the side of the slots to half their width (I used a cheap rotary tool and it took HOURS), or to drop the cash on a newer 3000-size chassis (e.g. Worlds tourer, or the special buggy one, which seems to be listed with a different number to the tourers).

funny that i could fit 3000's in the standard chassis as the battery bars that i was using were flat,ok it was a bit of a squezze but still managed to get them in and get the battery strap to fit, mind you i think i had to turn it the other way up

i have a standard chassis that has been professionally machined out like the special, it did need a bit of work to fit SOME NiMh cells but not others, this was actually fairly easy with just a hand file and didnt take too long at all, maybe the bits on the dremel are to fine for the job, have to admit it is tight at times but no problems really.

Yes, you are all correct. The chassis was done for Nicads (upto 2400mAh).
To get NiMH to fit you will need to open out the chassis a fraction. Whilst at it get some slots machined into lower the cells! Not as easy as it looks due to draft angle on the chassis webs in the cell area!!!! Try Paul Wordsely, he has machined afew for peeps in the west mids region and as always it's a good job well done.

A friend races the Std BC and runs GP3300's without any chassis mods.
I have a slight problem regarding GB3300 cells being held into my 2003 Special, the battery brace rattles about and there is about 3mm of upwards movement in the cells. I had a cell bar come apart today through excessive movement during landing at great speed from a great height = no go go.
Cure was with a bit of foam stuck underneath the bar. but as it is the alloy bar (no, not suzuki but Integy/Eagle type - standard shape but alloy), the heatsink benefits of alloy are all lost.
Has anybody dremeled the mounting posts lower, this is my next job - does it work ok?

Can't you just put a spacer above the strap + under the clip?

When I raced an MR4MT I used a buggy insert under the battery strap.

The posts were designed for the std chassis without holes, so with holes the cells rattle about. I could do either mod, or trim posts or use bigger cells, or glue them to my chassis, anything.
Trimming the posts lower is a more permanent, precise and reliable way of doing it. I been using foam like u Dooom but as the bar is alloy id prefer it to touch the cells so it can take away some heat.

How very odd ... I have not had this problem!!
All I have done is put an o-ring each post under the clip (mainly to stop the posts getting scratched ..lol) and all is fine!!!!

But urs will have the Suzuki strap won't it? Mine is an Integy alloy brace - like the plastic one in shape.

Maybe you could epoxy some small blocks into the recesses of the posts to take up the slack above the strap tabs.
