Hi,
I have been a long time fan of running one motor until it dies then buying a new one, however i am now thinking of purchasing a maximum of three motors to run for this season in off road.
My question is how many motors and of what wind would be an ideal choice for this and why? eg a 9D, a 11T and a 13Q
Cheers

with regard to numbers of motors, I can't really comment.
but I have only ever had 10x2's in my car all year, I used to experiment with different winds for different tracks and it never did me any good, get a motor that is fast, you like the power delivery of it and use that.
I have to agree with Chris.
When you find a make and model of motor you like, stick with it !!
I have tried various different motors and have quite a selection. I find you start getting confused which motor does what....
All I now use is Reedy Kr and the new Vantage from Peak / Orion.
My selection differs from Chris slighlty in the fact I run 12 or 10s, but thats it.
The 12's for lower grip to assist my driving style, and the 10's for good grip surfaces....

Well I bought a KR 12*2 as soon as I could get one at the start of last season, I then did every national, radio race car, regional and end of year final with it*. I am now running it during the indoor regionals and its still good.
However for next year I intend to get 2 motors at the start, a 10*3 and an 11*2 probably the new Reedy platinum ones. I would expect them to do all season inc club races as I hardly ever seem to manage to make it these days.

I only use two motors at the most throughout a year, 12's seem to suit my driving style really well, plenty of low down squirt. Atm I'm using a Kr 12x2, and have a 9x1 I use for outdoor regionals.

Interesting thread, I've been racing two years and bought one Reedy Ti 13x2 new. I've also bought two second hand Orion Chrome motors (10x2 and 11x2). But these are now way past their best! :P
I find that after borrowing a BRM, I'm going to run one of these. But was thinking should I buy 2 or more? But - after reading a while back about the new Orion/Peak Revolution and Vantage motors I decided that I could probably do most meetings with just one motor as they don't need skimming as often etc.
Because of this I'll use one BRM with a spare armature and one Vantage. Both 12t as their characteristics are completely different anyway. Some tracks will suit a BRM where another armature will come handy in-between motor skims, and the Vantage on other tracks which will need limited maintenance until I need a new armature.
