I should be having me nosram dominator evo, updated to a matrix evo soon. So i have been looking very seriously into having a go a racing brushless. Can anyone tell me what kind gearing i should be running and how much run time i should be expecting.
I run orion GP3700's (top spec) as i usually run 19t and 3700 are the best for this, should i be looking upto 4300 for brushless?
I am also looking at getting the Novak 4.5 velocity (is this too fast?) as well, so can anyone give me the expected run time with my 3700 batteries?
Thanx for any help anyone can give me

lrp 4 star is ballistically fast. and you will get enough duration with 4300. easily get 5 min for a race.

I run a GTB and 5.5 motor in my LOSI JRXs yesterday for the first time.
We had the usual 5 min races on tarmac and after each race I still had 2000 left in my 3700's. Im not a throttle jammer and normal have something left in them when I ran a 10 single but I was still amazed on how much was left in the batteries with the brushless.
Great fun and fast.
Hope that Helps

You should get well over 5 minutes of very quick running with 3700s and a Novak 4.5R. Its all down to the gearing....
...it is very easy to overgear a brushless system. It will still pull a tall gear ratio, and the top speed will be ballistic. However you'll notice it slow at the end of a run, or worse thermally shut down
Try a very undergeared ratio and work up. Outdoors on big open tracks like Snetterton I'm running around 9:1 which wounds undergeared. It flies though
Hope that helps
Mark
PS - want to be more certain of preventing thermal shutdown? Try running motor cooling fans over the brushless motor. I've left my dual Cool Can Fan set up on, and never had a thermal problem :D

I thought the 4.5 was quick when I got it, but now i've got used to it and it doesn't feel very fast anymore!
The difference in speed between the Novak 4.5 and the LRP 4* seems minimal, maybe the Novak is a little quicker from my experiences.
Runtime... no issues for me with a 2wd buggy & average GP3700s. I've seen a few people dump with a brushless, but that was a combination of old cells and throttle control that's comparable to an on/off switch.
