i am havin a problem with the spur gear on my team tc3. it does not run true at all nemore. i have changed the spur gear to a different one but the problem has not gone. i have checked the bearings and all seem to be in good order.
i am currently using the standard spur gear adaptor, the plastic one. i am pretty sure the problem is coming from there so i am wondering which is the best replacement for it?
i have seen aluminium replacements from rw rrp and fastrax.
which one is best or do u know of ne others?
where can i get them from?
and d'ya reckon it will sort out the problem?
fanks everyone!!!
ooo and also which spur gears do u recommend using in the tc3 for indoors on carpet?

cheers

If you are after a metal spur gear adapter then i recommend the fastrax 1 :O
i fitted one to my IRS and there is absolutely no play at all

I think Nic means the actual spur adapter not the spur gear. The IRS one is definately the best and is about 14 quid. You can buy it from the same shop as the hindgepins.

Not tried the irs spur gear adapter, but having recently had to machine new irs diff outdrives in order to stop them from rubbing on the bearing, I would be a bit cautious about buying irs aluminium bits.

While it is commendable that you have both the inclination and the ability to fix such a problem yourself, it would have been better in the long term for you to have returned them.
If suppliers don't hear about manufacturing defects, how are they supposed to rectify them?

I would be a bit cautious about buying irs aluminium bits. i have the IRS 'Dawg bone' driveshafts, and know people who use other IRS parts like the spur-gear adaptor and have had no prob's

Normally I would return defective items, but as I had two pairs of outdrives with the same problem, and I needed them in order to race the next day, I fixed them myself. Besides the outdrives look much cooler with part of the anodising removed :)

.... and will wear out faster because you have removed the anodising! ;)

Got the Irs input shafts, wobble like crazy but hey,,,,,they r lighter!!
The bearings dont actually fit onto the input shaft properly as its too thin, a few other people have had the same problem with this part but we all still use it!
