When racing on Carpet, what wheelbase setting do you use.
Such as the factory setting, or something different, just curious before I race the SD for the first time, normally I race my Xray T1 Evo2, but I thought I'd try the Yok SD.

Many Thanks
Rob.

I use the stock wheel base until my rear tires gets overheated.

For example this summer I changed the rear arms position to get the arms more in the back, 1mm exactly, and this solved my overheating problem without changing the feeling that much.

i am using short at the moment, seems to go well.

i might try long some time, but i found that my short wheel base goes better than standard.

Thanks, just wondered what you all used but I found the factory setting worked fine when racing on carpet with 35 shore GRP Gandini Foams.

I also found out that I raced just as fast as I always do with my Xray Evo2.

Thanks.

That's hardly surprising, you have swapped one extremely capable car for another! ;D
If you had swapped from an el cheapo Tamiya then I would expect to see an improvement.

The simple answer is that the Xray is a complicated car to first setup but once you know how to set it up, it's easy, but the car is very well manered and it has a professional feel to it. Also, it's a very fluent car through the corners and a joy to drive. Also fantastic Shocks aswell.

The comparison between the Xray and the Yokomo SD is that the YOK is very smooth through corners and has a punch like feel when pushing it through corners and has a little more speed when entering sharp corners. And it looks very professional with its silver graphite.

But overall, I would say that the Xray & Yok SD are both better cars than my Losi XXX-S I had in my opinion.

That's my thought.
Thanks.

Well if we look at the pinnacle for a minute, F1, teams always strive for a shorter wheelbase, except for a couple of reasons

1) They dont get the downforce they want with short wheelbase

2) They have to make the radiators smaller and all the fuel tanks, which affects cooling and time between pit stops.

Seeing as we are oblivious to these in electric R/C, short wheelbases are really the way to go. It does depend on the rest of your setup, that is important. But turn in and high & low speed handling balance will be helped stability wise with a shorter wheelbase.

Could go into the F1 dynamics of weight transfer and wheelbase science but er, dont need to lol
