Can anyone explain the "countback rule", or othwerwise describe what to do when two or more drivers finish a championship tied on points.

I can't find any information on the BRCA website and Google isn't my friend. :(

Hi Ray

Well the reason you won't find this on the website itself is because it can be dealt with differently by each section, you will of course find it in each sections rules in the handbook - which can be downloaded off the website if you don't have a copy.

But to give you an example.

In 1/10 Touring cars it works like this:-

Assuming a 6 round championship with best 4 events to count.

In the event of a tie.
1) The highest score counts (e.g. Driver A's best single result is a 3rd, Driver B's best is a 4th, the 3rd place means driver A wins.)
2) If they both have a 3rd:-
Then the qty of best scores counts
e.g. If Driver A has 2 x 3rd places, and Driver B only 1, then A wins.
3) If its still a Tie, then the best qualifying position will be used.
4) If its still a Tie, then its a Tie!

Other sections do it differently
In 1/12 Circuit, the best dropped score is first taken into account, then best results as per 1 and 2 above.

Have a look in the handbook and you should be able to find the method used for your class of racing, or if its for your club, just pick the a method which suits you the best!
