Fellow racers,

We all know the potential which the SDRCC venue has, just look at the entry list for the Scottish GP in June.

Although it would be ideal to resurface the track, due to it's sheer size we cannot afford it and in all honesty the current track surface is still in a very usable and raceable condition.

What we ARE doing is the following over the coming weeks:

- New fencing being installed (all apart from the main straight fence)
- New curbs + painting
- New track edging and removal of moss from track
- Repairs to any imperfections in the track surface
- Upgrade to the track mains power system (additional circuit).
- Investigating painting the rostrum

I'm sure you will all agree that investing in the circuit can only be a good thing and will make what is already a fantastic rc racing circuit, into a circuit which is outstanding. The racers at the GP will be wowed by the place ;)

Watch this space and the www.sdrcc.co.uk website for photos as the work progresses.

Cheers,

Dan

It's not that high.

The track is so big you need to be pretty elevated to get a good view for racing ;)

All,

Mark and I will be at the track all next week and are taking time off work especially to work on the track.

We appreciate due to work commitments that weekdays aren't always an option therefore we would appreciate as much help as we can on Saturday 8th April for painting the fence/curbs/rostrum etc

If you are able to make it please email Mark at mark.vandevelden@shell.com to make him aware.

Your help would be very much appreciated and you'll have played a part in making our circuit awesome and one which will leave all drivers leaving the GP thinking how great the track is after the upgrades.

Cheers, once again please email Mark if you can come and help.....bring some scruffy clothing!

Dan :)

Looks really good so far, glad to see so much work being undertaken. Well done to the comittee and helpers you've had so far. Are you planning to add any kerbs on the corners later on or is the freshly laid cement just going to be painted and be the new kerbs? Just asking as they look nice and flat which would make them more part of the track and racing line opposed to being a kerb, if you follow me :D

Bryan,

Thanks for the comments mate ;) Glad to see you are happy with the massive effort which is being put in to upgrade an already excellent track :)

To answer your question, the curbs are built up, a lot of focus was put on this whilst we laid the concrete. It is hard to see in that photos due to the 'monochrome greyness' of the cement but the curbs are actually better than before - a lot smoother and a better profile for 1/10th TC......the corner nearest the gate before going into the infield doesnt have a big step any more it is smooth and all in all it's a huge improvement........I for one can't wait to drive it!!

I would recommend all Scottish racers to come and drive it prior to the GP as we have made the chicane in the infield a little tighter so it's not so easy to straight-line, also it will feel different due to the new bright white curbs and new corners.

Looks like Round 2 will be rescheduled around the end of the month.....not long to the GP now!!

We will need some painting helpers though! Any offers? ;)

Cheers,

Dan

Mark just uploaded images of the finished product - without paint but I've already said why that is. Should be awesome to drive on it.....

I had noticed you'd fixed the dip in the road at the hairpin, track looks good.

Thanks a lot Andy that is great mate we'll definately take you up on that!

This is what we need, Scottish RC racers all coming together for the biggest ever outdoor touring car event Scotland has ever seen :)

The track is going to look awesome! :)

I will give you a call when I'm back, offshore at the moment. I hope to start pressure washing the track next week as we are holding Round 2 on Sunday April 30th.
