I have entered the chippenham olympiad championship, where they run five minute heats and eight minute finals. I have a rough idea of what rollout to run on 3000's, but i am not sure how much more motor/timing or rollout i can afford to run with 3300's. I would be greatful to hear your suggestions for motor/motor setup and rollout combinations for the 5 and 8 minute races. I think the racing surface is around 30m x 16m.
Thanks,
Ben
Hi Ben,
The Olympiad track is big for 12th cars. (and watch out for the bot dots).
As for 5 min qualifiers and 8 min finals,
I'm not sure that is a good idea, there will be lots of people going flat in the final.
I think for 3300's against 3000's, you want about 2 to 3 more mpr.
I never play with the timing of the motor.
Hopefully Paul will make a suggestion as I know he was thinking of doing some of the meetings.

Thanks Kieth,
Are you planning on doing any rounds of the olympiad this year?, I rember you last year having a great race with Olly. Shame you didn't attend more rounds. The championship really got going especially when Lee and Paul Woodhams came along.
Thanks again,
Ben
That was quite funny racing Olly.
Paul should have been there but was ill, only problem was he had all the pinions I needed so I was stuck with the ratio I ran at Milton KEynes.
Bit of difference in the size of track - oh well, it was good fun.
I probably won't be doing any 12th at the Olypiad, I may be tempted, but I may end up doing the touring class at some point - but only if I can get the tyres cheap.
If Paul, Olly Lee and the other Paul are running 12th, I would almost rather watch then race.
Plus there is the chance the Russ Williams might do some in 12th.
TAKE COVER!!

Keith,
why are you not supporting your local series???? The Olympiad ( spelt correctly note ) only clashes with two 1/12th nationals this year so no excuses.
Are you shying from the competition??? I know Martin the speed demon will be flat out as ever?!?!?!? However as Olly, and Simon Hamblett may not be doing it we are somewhat bereft of the quality they bring.
Besides, from previous years (well last year anyway) the newly crowned brca stock champion always races at the Olympiad. So hopefully Russ, Mark, Chris or Gavin will be free!!!!
Dont be a tight A** get down to race or i'l set my sponsor on you!!!
PPLLLLLLEEEAAAASSSEEE don't set Grandma on me.
Surely I don't deserve that!!
(I know - don't call you Shirley :D)
Having said I wouldn't do the Olpymaid series, things have changes today so I will be doing the ones that don't clash with 12th Nats.
Probably tourers, but I may have a little surprise later on in the year :-X
So what's the score with Olly and Simon, are they scared of Russ??
And does that mean you are going to win the Stock championship? Ho Ho Ho ;D

Kieth, judging by todays turnout at the btcc, russ might just be scared of olly. ;), I think anyone would after todays performance!
Ben
Yep, Olly looked good, his car was a bit too safe though, but he didn't make any mistakes and deserved to win.
After speaking to his dad, they may just concentrate on tourers at the Olympiad and not do any 12th. :(
Maybe it's HE who is scared of RUSS. :P

Ben,
I have run 5 minute 1/12th scale before and ended up running a 9 double on close to 50mpr. (would normally run 35mpr)
This made it very quick
It was a Reedy Ti so these can pull a higher ratio
I should be doing the Olympiad so see you there

Thanks alot everyone, now i shouldn't have to worry about making 8 minutes, (easier said then done). I still don't like the system at the olympiad though, I mean have the reason i got a 12th was learn how to drive smoothly, and when not to push and when to push. Now it is going to be five minutes of flat out racing, with a final that only has a few finishers. Should be quite fast though!
Thanks again,
Ben

I note your comments about the 5 minute in 12th Qualifying. The reason is really to fit the time constraints we have at the hall. However, if we can do 8 minutes would you all find it more attractive? Hvaing said that the most we could do at 8 minutes is 1 heat as 2 heats would just push us over the time limit.
Thanks for all your support and see you all at the Olympiad.

MCFabbers - nice of you to join us 8)
I just thought that if you went with 5 min qualifiers, a 5 min final would be most appropriate (and save and extra 3 mins).
But obviously the drivers want as much running as possible :D so I think it will be very interesting with an 8 min final.
(And with the rules printed, I guess it's suck it and see)
