Hi, just to ask if there will be a full time referee at the nationals this season. It was requsted at the EGM & the committee said they would do something about it, Due to the standard of driving last season. Thanks

The officials of the meeting at each national will ensure that every race has a suitable referee in attendance at race control.
This is what was agreed at the EGM I believe.
Having 1 permanent referee is not something I support, I couldn't do it effectively all day on my own at every national, could you?

It isn't an easy job if people behave like hooligans - everyone thinks they can do it because they are never in the wrong!!

I have done it - and for several days on the trot - and it is a thankless, difficult, unrewarding task. If drivers behave, everyone wonders what you are doing there, and if they don't it can become rather boring listening to the comments about your ability!! However, the best meetings you will ever attend have an good referee who acts when needed and makes life much better for everyone.

The real answer is for everyone to behave. But there is always someone for whom winning does not have a cost - except your dented body and broken chassis!!

Good luck to all the referees this year - and if you think that they should be there and doing the job, have the good grace to accept their decisions and thank them for their work after the meeting.

Hi , To the point, rule 10.1 to 10.4 under 12th section rules.it seems to be always thrown together on the day Its still a BRCA National and highist standards should be set. Touring car blood is coming into 12th which is great & welcomed, but driving standards need to be lifted. 12th has always been known as an art & was once reguarded of the highest standard to achive. As Jim pointed out I have the T-shirt & then some, And will never knock anyone for there efforts . But there is always room for improvements.laters Al

What are penalties referees can dish out for bad driving, ebusive language, threatening behaviour etc.?

There are no specific penalties in the rules.
It is at the discression of the referee, usually limited to warnings or stop/go penalties for driving indescretions.
However if someone wants to be a real pain they can loose times or even be chucked out of the meeting :(
Luckily at 1/12 meetings this is almost unheard of!
