Hi Guys

Can you help me out of this problem, which is causing me a lot of, bother? I have been running the 2002 evo2 pivot ball and what a car it is. This year I also purchased the freedom of choice model. Running the car indoor on a wooden floor using Schumacher narrow mini pins, yellow dot tyres using soft inserts.

Now, the problem is when I use new tyres I run into a problem of the tyres coming of the rims. Sometimes all four tyres, now the wheels I purchased from Apex being the JC 21MM ASCARI ZERO OFFSET WHEEL. Now the reason I choose this wheel is I have a lot of bother with the wheels catching on the suspension arms on the C-hubs set up I fitted to this car.

I have tried super gluing them on, now this works but I don’t wont to have to do this all the time from the point of the expense. I have found that with wide tyres, and narrow HPI wheels on my pivot ball car set up the tyres never come off.

Can anybody help me out by suggesting wheels I can use (21mm) that won’t foul up the front suspension arms on my c-hub set up car when I steer.

I think you have done something wrong building your car if you have to use 21mm wheels, i can get 26mm on the front and 30mm on the rear if i want to 8)

all i can suggest is that you glue them onto the rims with TEAM ORION LOCKDOWN tire glue, (the thin kind) in bought a bottle of this for about £7 :o about 9 months ago and it still has plenty left in it and i have never had problems with the tires coming off

"Yes" You must glue all ruber tyres on!!

..what inserts are you using?

Are you use to glueing tyres on-??

For glue you need to go to your LHS and buy some thin/medium glue (not super glue) Also your LHS should be-able to tell you how to glue tyres on-because its not as straight- forward has you think, or ask on here im sure some one will have a link to a site that can explain it better.

You should be -able to fit larger Rims,has most people use 24mm-26mm all the time..

Also you shouldn't need full lock when turning has this will stress your servo out.in the set up book it says there to turn full steering down if possable,if you need full lock then your car needs a better set-up.

I don't think Gordon is referring to wide 26mm wheels not fitting - because we all know they do fit, however I know that Narrow Minipins are preferred for the surfaces which Gordon runs on, therefore he does choose to use narrow 21mm wheels as I do myself. Gluing tyres on is all very well - however it is not essential to glue them on for indoor racing - especially on slippy wooden floor.

It is a strange problem that Gordon has been experiencing, because I have seen it first hand, however surely there must be a better solution without having to glue tyres on and then having the expense of replacing both wheels and tyres.

I have recently bought a freedom of choice kit as well and have had problems with some rims whereby the inner hex on the wheel rubs against the end of the wishbone when on full lock ???. With a carefull bit of filing this was sorted. ;D

as far as i am aware it is standard practice and the norm to glue rubber tyres onto rims as described before but this does not mean that the rims are then useless there is a product made although i do not know the name of by heart (your local lhs or someone else on here may help) that dissolves the glue and allows the wheels to be reused. It is not necessarily the amount of grip that will cause the trye to come off it may only be a slight turning angle coupled with high rpm that will also cause it to happen.

Why on earth do you need full lock?

Surely if you are running full lock then you either have waaaaaay to much steering or a poorly setup car? Both my sons' Xrays are between 55%-65% of full lock...

if somethin is catchin on the suspension blocks u may have bought 3 degree offset wheels?
