Just as a note for all EC runners, after a bit of head scratching i've got to the bottom of why the rear wheels bind when tightened. The thinner hexes combined with the deeper recess in the SSB wheel (i think) means that the wheel rubs on the hub carrier.
To solve, take a sheet of 400 paper, rub face down, then use some 800 if you are a perfectionist, wash away rubbings and voila. It will weaken them slightly i'm guessing but its better than binding wheels. You only need to take a few tenths off, I went a bit overboard and managed to take a good 1mm off  . Maybe just use 800 grit :D

I can't edit for some reaso, but I forgot to add that maybe this years rims will be different, so I would wait on Mikes reply to confirm.

Hi Colin, they will be exactly the same rims we have used before so you will still have the same issue. Is that thinner hex an "option" or std kit part?
The thinner hex comes as standard on the EC, there is also a 1mm washer between the hex and the wheel. Adding any extra spacers after the hex will change the offset on the car but more important there isnt much of the hex inside the wheel, ie not alot of support. A sanding we will go :D

After discovering binding with my hubs and the EC hex's (without any wheels present, which no-one else seemed to suffer with) I changed the hex's for the Mission/Mi2 items which are much thicker, rear track is only widened by 1.5mm.

Just dont try them on the front as it makes the front end too wide so the wheel nut isnt on the stub axle far enough for the nyloc part to hold hold the nut on the axle. Schumachers rev-lite wheels fit with no problems whatsoever and the 12 spoke wheels are very close but they do fit, obviously not much good in this instance but some free info for anyone that wants to read it :D
Hmm, out comes the dremel :D

What cuase this problem as the driveshafts are the same front and rear?
How much of the wheel centre needs to be removed?

Ok - just put some of last years tyres and rims onto my EC - which has a 1mm spacer between the hex and the rim and I have no binding at all - it's not even close ......
Where exactly is the contact between the chassis and the rim on other peoples EC's??
I tried a pair of last years on mine on Sunday (thanks Col). They bind up when you screw up the nut on the rear more than the front. I ended up putting the plastic washer used on the front between the wheel and nut to space them, but this does add about 1.5mm extra width either side, maybe making the car illegal !

Personally i would say that you want to be running the spacers supplied in the kits on both front and rear with the EC. Not sure if that makes any difference in this case, although i haven't come accross any wheels so far that still rub.
but in the instructions it shows the spacer on the outside of the wheel, not between the wheel and hex though ???

LOL, oh well. You know what to do now then...........
This could also take away some of the sharpness that you spoke about on the other thread.
Right, got my rims from Mike (thanks a million) and fitted, no need to sand at all, fitted fine and actually there is a hairs width of the hex spacer showing proud of the wheel's moulded hex. Perhaps the wheels are not 100% exactly the same as last years.
Either way they fit without issue (unless your dumb like me and put a spacer on the wrong side hehe)
