25th is a saturaday - did you mean 26th?
I think I will be down there near the end of the month.

Yo me and Ash will try to make it down the weekend before round one. Never been to the southend track before. Mark do you run a one way in your car at that track? Don't know wether its a very tight track or not?
I think that the clubs website has some pictures, also there are some on the STCC website in their Gallery. Looks like a fairly long straight with some twists on the infield. One thing noted though is that SRCCC is a BumPy track !!

It is bumpy.
Southend is definitely one of the smaller tracks in the series; mid length straight really, if you take in to account the flat-out right hander. Infield's fairly technical, with the "Alpine" S bends climbing uphill followed by a launch off the top of the "jump" and what can be a very rapid run downhill.

no! one way needed a diff or spool but not a 1 way the track is bumpy and people who have not been their it will be good to go get some practise as its one ov theose tracks that its hard to get your head round

Getting flat out down the hill is the hardest thing about southend. Hopefully i'll be able to do it this year!
im sticking with a standard diff, like the way the car handles with that on, plus it is less harsh on your front drive shafts.
Is there much difference in the performance of the STCC control tyre and the Take off CS22's or CS27's (as I will be practising with these tyres) ?

What time do the gates open/race meeting start at Southend on the club race dates before the STCC?
Thanks

John:
CS27's will be similar in performance to the STCC control SSB. Not sure exactly what this years tyre will be like, in previous years they have been very good if you havn't got any CS will definatly be best to practise on.
Doesn't look like I'm going to be able to commit to the series, Uni work and all that. Will try to do the odd round here and there if any spaces pop up!

Two Points
The gates will open long before 9.30 :D racing will already be under way then  with 11 heats 3 rounds & 11 3 leg finals signing in will close at 8.45am. Information regarding start times, booking in etc is all on the STCC website
Secondly
The new tyres are the same compound as the previous years, the change is to the belting to try and eliminate the rubber wearing through at the belt joints, they will also have STCC moulded into the sidewall.
This again is on the website and has also been posted on this site before.
Barry
I think Skiddins was asking about gate opening times on NON race days, just general club days. I think on these days the gates don't open much earlier by what Steve told me, and they close once it starts to get dark.
As for race meet days, I would assume they are going to be open very early to accomodate practice, briefings and getting started so as not to finish using torchs to light the track ;)

Barry, Jo90 was correct, I meant the times for normal club days when presumably the numbers will be a lot less.
I'm just trying to find out how the times work out on these days as I'd like to go there prior to the STCC round.

If you want a set of SSB's to practise with John I can lend you a set from last year. They are worn a bit but perfectly usable. I'm going to see if I can make it there for the 19th (going on the basis that if i can tame a 7 single round there I can tame the control motor :D ), or you could drop in at Basildon on Wednesday.

Sorry Damian,
read your post the wrong way.
But we did, at Southend funnily enough, last year have a local driver who thought he would turn up at about 9.30 as that's what time he always arrived at the track!!!
So just wanted to make sure

I may take you up on that. I'll likely be going down there the week before the STCC (trying to make the practice as late as possible). I may well have a few sets of the SSB's by then (at least if I haven't got them by then i'll be panicing).
Mark - Laid back, what about Trev yesterday at the driver breifing :D (naughty school children).

Are we panicking John? :D
I'm planning on being there this Sunday, all depends on the weather alot though, it was FREEZING last time! I'll bring another set of SSBs if you want to use them.
On a side note, does anyone want to see this years paint job for me and Simon Kelsey? No? Well your seeing it anyway:

Shouldn't be able to miss those two flying around (probably literally  )
I don't know anything about Mark's paint job, so if yours is orange too then its pure coincidence!
orange you glad you painted them like that huh ;)
ok crapiest joke ever. Should still be there sunday, will be bringing my CS22's and 27's to play around on, and may borrow a set of the SSB's for one run Col.
PS - the setup sheets have disapeared off of schumy's website :(

My EC is a virgin to outdoor racing, so I need to go on Sunday rain or shine i guess to get a decent setup lol. Suppose I should take some pictures of my un-blemished chassis...
I'll be the loner (until 1:30pm anyway) with a black Punto if you wanna know where the SSBs will be ;)

Thank's - we'll be there between 9 and 9.30 tomorrow then.
When we get to Rd1, I notice that on the STCC website, it says that:
"Signing will close at 8.45am, with racing starting as soon as is possible after 8.45am"
With that in mind, what is the best time to plan to arrive as we will be travelling to all the tracks on the day - complete with little people!
Thanks,
Colin
