In ALL my Schumacher cars, I have only ever used the Vari Pistons, they have never self adjusted either. I know there is a thing for using Associated ones in there, but I didn't see the point, too much work to replace something that works well.

I don't actually makes a massive difference which you use, as the same general effects are available with both. As steve has said there was a fad of going to associated ones, and i confess i did follow it, but there really isn't any need, infact they are a little too small.

As a slight side note, on the solid ones, just check the edges, as sometimes there is a little too much flashing on there that can drag on the inside of the bodies.

Matt - this could be rubbish, I thought our solid pistons had tapered holes?

Someone told me a season ago, and I stopped using them there and then!

If the pistons are tapered, then you got to go on the narrowest part of the hole, all though, I do wonder why they would be, as it would make no affect on flow through the piston.

Just make sure whatever one you use, they are a snug fit inside the shock bodies, and slide with no resistance or binding.
