i am getting really really really hacked off with my sst..

recently it has started tearing up inside front driveshafts.

the lockstops on the front wishbones are still there and in tackt.

it kept snapping the plastic ones, tearing the steel ones apart and i tried the steel CVDs but it tore the stub axle apart

what is going on?? i don't want to get a new car, it eats all the competition at my local club for breakfast!

The 99pro/axis had thin lock stops on the wishbones, these had the potential for too much lock and hence broke driveshafts. If you still have the std U shaped steering link then i think it limits lock, but many people took these off, hence had too much lock.

Get some new Mission front wishbones, should sort your problem.

i got the u shaped link fella!

so whats different about the mission wishbones???

the thing is.. i need a lot of lock for the circuit i drive.. its very tight and very twisty... is there any manufactuer of drive shafts that are better than the schui ones?? (the cvds i used where schui!)

i am about to retire the car and quit touring car racing for a while if can't sort this!

the mission front wishbones have a thicker lockstop on them, so your wheels will not turn as much (less lock) with these wishbones you will still be able to get enougth lock to race anywhere!

alternatively you could replace your driveshafts as you say, schumacher do some steel ones for the car that shouldnt break and also some titainium CVD'ds that should fit. but these are exspensive and its far easyier to replace the wishbones ;)

There isn't much you can do. I suspect that the damage is being caused by having too much lock. If i'm honest i can't remember exactly how much you would have on that car as it's a long while since i had one. So you can either limit the lock to try and stop breaking shafts, or keep changing shafts. I don't think you'll lose that much (if any) steering.

There are 5 types of driveshaft that i know of:

Std kit plastic
Steel UJ (no longer made)
Steel CVD - From Schumacher but made by MIP
Titanium Racing CVD
New Mi2 composite bone/MIP axle.

The Steel CVD's are the strongest of the bunch as far as i know. If you are destroying these then there isn't much you can do on that front.
