I'd say, a second hand TA04.
I sold my 04 the other week with a servo and Novak Explorer ESC for £130.
That had Topcad purple threaded shocks, purple screws, cardon upper deck, lower deck and shocktowers, and racing suspension set. It also had enough spares to build another (bar diffs and diff mounts).
Undercharged? I think so...... :(
I did keep the nice Loctite Skyline body though. ;)

Round here, Tamiya just don't have the reputations of Schumacher, HPI, Associated etc.
I had it up for £160 RTR.
No takers.
£140 RTR.
No takers.
Ended up taking the radio out and let it got for £130 to a mate.
I did swap a TC3 for it though.

I will let mine go for 100 quid but with no electronics. I love the 04 but gonna get another one with everything on it. It is a TA04-SS with a Audi TT shell.

:( You're right about the reputation, but they have been showing some of the Big Boys the way, albeit in the guise of the '04, Evo's and now the 415...
That said Evo 3 Surikarn, anyone? ;D ;D ;D

:) The TA03 is/ was a pretty good chassis and won many international honours at the hands of a Tamiya driver David Jun (American)
It is quite a durable chassis that tends to be quite crash resistant, even so, I think parts are still available.
Just be mindful to watch the belt pulleys don't get loose, as it becomes a 2 wheel drive then... Not so easy to notice if the motor is placed at the front! ;D
