Hi all,
I've managed to damage a couple of my rear wheels at Plymouth clipping the corner at the end of the back straight, they're not totaled but could do with getting some new ones before Mold! I'd prefer to support the UK shops if I can, does anybody know if there is anywhere flogging them or if there are any new wheels that are a bit 'trick'

Mark,
Are these the wheels on their own or are they Glue'd and True'd?

With regard to your wheels, AL was using some new wheels at plymouth, these were of jaco type but white in colour, these are apparently hollow on the verge of a honeycombe design on the inside.
This helps the rotation mass(ie rotates much more freely).
Not sure on the strength (know how you drive!).
will get some details of the company who has designed them and let you know.

AL was using some "white wheels" (thats the make) again not sure on strength but they look super cool.
the crc wheels are very strong, howver they do weigh more than your average.

Hmm,
Light weight wheels reducing the rotatiing mass!!!
Does that mean the cars will turn quicker (Less rotating mass for the servo to move) and will we be able to get closer to the current weight limit?
Also, this would therefore mean the suspension would work more efficently as less weight to move up/down.
This is getting better, less rotating mass will mean longer run times, less motor wear.
AND, If my science is correct, a honey-comb structure is as strong as a solid object, if not more robust as it can absorb bumbs better.
And they are white, even better for me to see the car, and I'm not as old as Jim!!!
Does anyone know where I can get them from, in the UK?

And do they make them to fit corally's?

Hello Dave,
Hope you get well Soon.
How are you?
Not currently sure about the wheels for Corally, but to make the advantage equal, surely they should do.
Although after Plymouth the others need an advantage!!!

After 4 ops, I'm on the mend. Stitches came out on Tuesday, but I still feel like I've been kicked by a horse!

Matt,
How much lighter are they? I can happily take off quite a bit of weight (from the car!!), just interested to see how much it will save me

you can easily tell when you hold them in your hand, these "white wheels" are definatley lighter than jaco, trc or crc wheels. i dont have any actual figures though.
i doubt they make them to fit corallys, as its an american company and there arnt alot of corallys in the US. so not really a market for them. also with all the other cars , like crc, trinity, asso, etc etc, you can use any wheel basically, whereas with a corally its different to everyone else.
which is most probably the reason corally made the wheels like that... it means everyone can only use their wheels.
out of interest, are the corally wheels lighter than jaco/trc?
hope that helps... these white wheels certainly look the mutts nuts! ;)

Matt,
Do you have any pictures of the White wheels?

not of the actual "white wheels" no, but the crc ones are dead easy to find.
they look kinda like the jaco wheels, wether it be 5 ot 6 spoke i cant rmember... but they do look sweet.
we'll have to ask alan at mold ;)

I understand the White wheels are manufactured and marketed by the 'White Wheel company' (could be corporation, not sure). I understand the proprieter of the company is a disgruntled ex employee of a major model car wheel manufacturing company who was responsible for all of the research and development.
The wheels offer incredible rigidity thus reducing cyclic and torsional loads around the neutral axis. The majority of wheels are injection moulded, the white wheels are also, but they have a hollow core which has been impregnated with an aramid fibre. After moulding they are then machined to ensure absolute perfect concentricity.
Regarding the weight, sources suggest a 33% saving, fantastic, especially when considering the rotating mass.
I also understand that they are bringing out a complete new tyre range which will have muck better wear rate without loss of traction.
Hope this info is of help

Have had a conversation with AL with reg White Wheels he has received from his contact some Aerodisc's but has only a limited supply.
To be tried this weekend, they are looking to manufacture the disc's in a similar plastic to the wheels.
The idea is that the disc's will create a smooth surface whle car is in motion thus the air flow should pass over the wheels with ease, the benefit will be less resistance on the wheel's and this will aid runtime for thirsty drivers.
Will post more info as and when received.
