Just bought a fully kitted out Mission carbon and i was wondering what was the best bodyshell to run on it.
I will be running it in the CML Carpet Masters at Stafford and hopfully during the summer at Stafford and Ashby. I run with the 19 spec at the carpet masters and was thinking of sticking with this for the TORC series.
I have been running my old SST 98 with an Alfa shell up untill now and have not had any problems with it so this is an option for the new shell.
thanks for any help any of you can give

Protoform Vauxhall Vectra is the best all-rounder in my opinion. I have one on mine whether I run indoors or outdoors.
It *may* be replaced by the new Protoform MG ZS, so it may be wise to get one of those.

would try a protoform status 1.0 shell, good all round shell which produces good steady handerling, also my choice on the mission indoors up to yet and i dont do that bad at the carpet masters ;)

Thank you Colin and Garry.
Colin I noticed that you are doing quite well in the Carpet Masters, what set up did you run at Dudley? I've only just bought the car and like i said previously i have been running my SST so far inth ecarpet masters, and i ran the Mission for the first time on friday at the Dudley club night, biggest problem was lack of grip at the back, i found that as i race there every week i had the SST gripping fine, when i took it to Stafford, too much grip! still can't have everything!
cheers for the help

hi dunk, i ran a simple setup really:
front
- 0deg toe in
- 1deg negitive camber
- inline hub (alloy ones on lower seting)
- ran fusion bulkhead in lower position
- short front wheelbase (all spacers to front of lower wishbone)
- standard ackuman setting (as kit)
- low castor (dont know wot it messures but 1 small clip in front position on upper wishbone all rest to the back)
- shocks in inner hole on lower wishbone
- 60wt oil
- associated red spring (schuy red should be fine i think? check rates)
- shocks in 2nd hole up on shock mount
- no role bar
- 5mm ride
- 7mm total droop
- ran normal diff, but slightly tighter than normal (tried solid but didnt like it)
Rear
- 2deg toe in
- ran inboard toe in
- 2 deg negitive camber
- inline hub (alloy ones on lower position)
- ran fusion bulked in lower position
- ran medium wheelbase (one spacer either side of wishbone)
- shocks in inner hole on lower wishbones
- 45wt oil
- associated gold spring (maybe try schuy blue?)
- shocks in 3rd hole up on shock mount
- no role bar
- 5.5mm ride height
- 9.5mm total droop
tyres
ran D20's (contol tyre) on proline wabush 24mm wheel with Peak JB 2 peice SOREX insert - yellow/soft one
hope this helps, i found that i had plenty of grip on the track, would deffinately try the tyre insert combo as it works really well :)
colin jackson - let us know how you go on ;)
The 2004 dodge is very good! The wheel arches are not as strong as the 2.0 (schumacher) shell but still a very nice shell and handles like a dream.

For indoor carpet racing I'd stick to the original Dodge Stratus - the Protoform version is my current choice. I have a Frewer to spray up when it gets warmer ::)
Beyond that a Pf Vectra will give more steering, and the Status 2 very sharp steering. With these three you have a choice to suit most tracks.
Of the "new" shells I like the look of the Pf MG and the BTCC Astra.

I Have used BMW 3 Series,Alfa 156 and even a Mondeo shell in the past on my SST2000 but have found the new Mazda 6 shell to improve the handling considerably. I race on a slippery school hall floor and the layout is generally tight twisty corners and one long straight.
the only problem I have found is that the Mazda is very weak around the front arches and is already showing signs of cracking after a few weeks of useage, having only hit minor objects.
The shell really shows when you need to replace the tyres as you really feel the loss of grip due to worn tyres more so than with any of the other shells i have used.
Carole.

Mazda 6 is a very nice shell, but I doubt it will get passed for BRCA meetings because of the massive wing on it. But indoors it is very good, nicer than the Alfa.

the rear wing on the Mazda 6 has two sets of cutlines, so you have the choice as to which one you cut too, if the first cut line makes the chord too big, then cut it to the second line and it should be fine.

Yeah I had to cut to the second line this time as if you dont, you can hardly get the body clips on.

i have used both the stratus and the vectra, and i think the vectra is alot better. i get faster straight line speed and alot better cornering.
