Im soo stuck on engine choice for the CRT.

Do I go for the tried and tested RB S7II?
Do I get the new Hobao Mach.28?

My concerns are that the RB may not be able to handle much loading such as wet mud, steep hill climbing on certain tracks etc without wearing LOADS or killing clutches.

My concern with the Mach is that IMO the Hobao range of engines have not used SUPER dooper quality materials especially for the piston and liner. Also ive heard no feedback on the new Mach.28 at all.

Do you find your .28's too much? do you wish you had gotten a .21?
Does your .21 overheat and eat clutches daily??

I need your UNBIASED opinions please guys and girls :)

The OS30 is another good choice for a truggy with loads and I mean loads of bottom end power. Used by Jamie Booth but then again he could probably beat a good percentage of drivers with a rubbish engine!!

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm nova rossi.
as a nova rossi lover in .21 size i wouldnt have the 528 as its a pig to tune and drinks like a fish.

I must take issue with you on your last statement (drinks like a fish, pig to tune).

I have a 528 race 8 port turbo non-pullstart and this engine is awesome!

I get longer run times in my MBX5 truggy 7 1/2 mins+ than I do with my P5 in my MBX5 rallycross.

What pipe and manifold are you using?

Old Dog and Wesser will give testament to this cars power. Are you running it too rich? Old Dog has listened to my engines and he swears I run both the 528 and the P5 too lean, but when brought in to check temps both are fine.

Lean it out....you'll be amazed.

If you're worried about longevity........my P5 has done a whole year including Nationals and is still way fast. 528 the same. When the "Fatboy" used to go down the straight at Coventry people would stop and stare!

Buy a 528 Novarossi 8 port turbo race....the most fun you can have with your clothes on!

Hey im not trying to cause an argument here.
i run the same engine with the mugen mst pipe, designed for it in a mugen mst.
i have no qualms about the power its amazing but its very finniky about tuning.
i can tune an engine as i run both p5 , p5x and 421b engines.
my 528 with a 7mm restrictor i just get 7.5 mins.
my p5x does 9.5 mins in my rallycross buggy.
i think the question is the O.S 30 is its ease of tuning and very smooth power delivery.
whilst only 3 port its very very fast and very affordable.

Whilst I swear by RB engines but currently run a RECAB as it gives us something the others dont give us, I can provide testimony to both cam and lewis's engines. NEITHER of these guys ever have a slow engine and thats a fact!

Take the restrictor out, I run my 528X with the 9mm venturi.

I know it sounds crazy but maybe the engine just runs better that way, mine seems to.

Maybe some of the lucky Lewis magic is rubbing off on me? Never had issues tuning the 528X.

No arguement, just discussion! :D

may have found problem racing yesterday.
fiorini sliding clutches and 528`s dont mix resulting in a melted cltch and the car running in reverse :D
out of intrest what head temps do u get on your 528?

Have a look at the STS Engines! I don't think you can beat them for the price you pay.
