The pivot ball will give you virtually limitless tuning options. The Chub are more conventional and found on all competition electric race cars. The chubs gives you 12deg more steering on either side, with the added tuning option of soft, medium, or hard compounds. Both suspension systems will allow the car to be free, but the chubs will allow you to corner faster.

The pivot ball is a complete pain in the **** to set up properly, if you can run with C hub, do so....

How so?

It took me hours to get it set the first time, you have to get the clearance for the pivot balls spot on or it will bind, or be floppy. the track width was a pain to set up, even with a hudy board. I needed the Hudy station to get the car to go in a straight line. The one good thing is when you make changes to the car trackside, half a turn here or there and straight back on the track.
With the tendancy for drivers to use dished wheels (because thats what the works drivers use!! not like we mere mortals would notice a diference in how the cars drive) The option to adjust trackside is gone..
It is also stronger than the C hub in a crash but I would still rather run the C hub because it is so much easier to set up and work on.

Ran my Raycer/Evo2 hybrid tonight for the first time, and I have to say that the c-hubs are the way to go indoors (not run outside yet so I can't comment on that). The car just carried so much more corner speed and was a lot more stable than the old one.
Just got to try it now with a carbon fibre chassis and see if there is any difference.
I believe you get a lot more steering (12deg?) than the pivot balls.
Have seen/heard of some people using the alloy uprights in the C hubs- what benefit does this give?
I will certainly be changing come the indoor carpet season!

The team drivers used the Alu caster blocks to smooth out the car in the corner, the only place where people would use it is at big tracks like Halifax and Tibshelf.

Even a dirty Losi would have survived the little tap I had with another car today. :P
Bloody C-hubs... >:( >:( >:(
In all fairness to the C hubs - i think you where just very unlucky Tom! - there is not much more meat on the Pivot ball steering blocks.
What hit you?

You can modify the pivot ball hubs to get more lock, can cause the ball to pop out in a heavy shunt..

Oh the irony of ironies, I hit Kyle... ;D ;D ;D Wasn't very hard though, he got sideways coming out of the final corner onto the straight and I collected him.
I broke both the c-hub and steering block. Mind you, they've just survived an evening at Leyton Buzzard where the car really was fantastic again. Got some spares now, I'm just hoping I don't have to go down the route of buying the aluminium ones now. ::)

Ah, suddenly I really don't care how fragile the c-hubs are. ;D
Now to try and go that quickly at a meeting that actually matters, and get some spares in... 8)

Tom you need the Ali Hubs i have been running mine for 9 months or so without any breakages ;D(and you know i have at lease a couple of offs a meeting ), you do need to keep an eye on the internal plastic ring that holds the bearing in though when they go the lot goes flying wheel and driveshaft complete :( :(
Long live the X-Ray oh & the Sd

C-Hubs are the way to go. pivot ball system is a nightmare to set up, i could never got the left and right sides the same width. Chubs dont have this problem, and give more steering to boot. Pivot ball suspension is far more robust, hence pivot ball systems on most nitro cars, it can withstand bigger accidents. If your a good driver you shouldnt have to worry about which is more likely to break!!!
