Hi Guys, just setting up my T1 (the original) with the low ratio pulleys. the narrow belts etc and I am well impressed with the speed. I want to run a one way as I think it will improve my driving, but I really want to know about springs. What do you guys run? I am on carpet dragons on primafelt, and the car is loose at the rear when changing direction, I run orange all round(standard with the car). Is it better to have harder or softer on the front or even? Your comments please guys, and thanks in advance.

Spring rates used will depend on each individual track, the grip level and how the car is handling. Indoors i usually start at the middle blue springs all-round. Springs chosen will also depend on the oil in the shocks, pistons and less crucially the angle of the shocks. And before anybody starts criticising what i just said, dont. Other people will give other advice.

You're running the old Serpent shocks? If so the orange springs are equivalent to the new yellows, the old whites (appropriately) the new whites and the old yellows the new blues.

I always used to run (old springs) yellow on the front and white on the rear, that makes blue front and white rear in the new money.

You can use the new springs on the old rear shocks as they are virtually the same length, not sure about the fronts though.

Serpent (old) and XRay (new) shocks are different. The Serpent springs and shocks come in 2 different sizes out of the 4 . Two front (shorter) springs and two rear (longer) springs. The new XRay springs and shocks are now all 4 the same size.
For the T1 the with Serpent shocks the choice is:
Tension: Soft Colour: Purple
Tension: Medium Colour: Orange
Tension: Hard Colour: White
Tension: Extra hard Colour: Yellow
With the rest of the T1's, fitted with XRay shocks, you have a far greater choice.

Hi

It might be a good idea to get the latest spring sets as they will be the ones most people have and use.

don't forget though if you want to start running the new spring sets then you'll have to spend about £50 retail on the xray shocks. i highly recommend them but if thats too much i know that centre point have the old purple, orange, white and yellow springs so its up to you depending on how much you want to spend.
hope this is any benefit to you.
