does SDRCC have any off road activities these days?

Unfortunately not graeme. We had to concentrate all of our resources and members on one class several years ago to keep the track going.

I've been asked this question a few times this year.
Thought I'd start a poll and see if anyone was actually serious.
I've still got a 2WD and a 4WD car in great nick, and frankly, they're dying to get a proper go with 3300 batteries and some decent motors!
If you think you'd fancy running at a one-off event based in the Stonehaven pit area (on grass: we still have the three moguls to incorporate in the track layout!), then have your say.
Please feel free to vote either way. Also feel free to post a comment supporting or rejecting this idea.
The reason for the poll, is to see if it's commercially viable to consider organising.
If there is no real support, then we won't bother.
If there is a little interest, we might run a friendly, informal meeting.
If there is a lot of interest, we might run a national-type meeting with trophies, etc.
If there are hundreds of votes, I'll dance around the track for five minutes to the Birdy Song over the Tannoy! (In costume!)
By the way, Newsletter will be out soon, as will membership forms.
Merry Christmas everyone.

I am no way near your area, but I would come just to see someone dance around the track for 5 minutes dressed in bidie costume, dancing to that dreadfull song!!! ;D;D;D
I am up for this!
I will happily fix up my original RC10 worlds car - after myself and Mr. VandeVelden smashed it (jumping it 6 ft int he air with soft suspension onto tarmac does no good to nylon wishbones).
It's all good! 8)

Hi all
At Falkirk on a Sunday afternoon, there is a small buggy club started up. It has around 10 members so far which is by the week increasing. Perhaps some coordination between the clubs could see a meeting get off the ground.
I'll sell my RC10!! 8)
I want a Losi xxx-4

Well i'd be up for a bit of off roading again!
I think we would still have enough hoses and tyres to build a track but we dont have a mower (i dont think).
sdrcc
24-12-2003, 07:04 AM
I had a look at the hoses and tyres and thought we could get a decent track down.
I can borrow a lawn mower, or for one meeting, get a old friend to come round with his sit-on, and trim the lot for about £20-40.
He might do it just for a case of beer. Anyway, it's easy to organise.
It just depends to what level.
If anyone fancies getting some real air (no deliberately looking for ramps on the straight, and ending up with half a mechano set, Mr van de Velden!), then put a post on.
I'm getting worried about this bloody birdy song...

We'll have a formal discussion about this on April 11th, sounds like a few folk are interested so we'll have a good look in the store and see what's what and maybe hold an off road meeting in-between one of the club rounds.
Anybody got any original rc10 rear hub carriers??? Cant find them anywhere! :o
Just my thoughts ;)

i would be very interested in an off road meeting, there are a handfull of us drivers at the falkirk car club who race offroad, i'm sure we would all come up for a meeting. we're actually just back from racing at the BRCA offroad national at holbeach, 700 mile round trip so a wee drive through to stonehaven won't bother us!!!! keep us posted
sdrcc
21-09-2004, 10:38 AM
This subject hasn't been discussed in a while?!
Let's start it up again as i've just been on ebay looking at 4wd off roaders.......now that the on road 2004 season is coming to a close, who'd fancy trying an off road race early in 2005???
ross minimad
21-09-2004, 12:11 PM
Like i said in my earlier post, if there is an off road meeting going to happen, us guys that race off road a falkirk radio car club will certainly be interested in coming. We are off to Worcester this weekend for the BRCA regional finals.
its a shame most of the scottish racers have forgotten how much fun off road is....

Fix a date and if Easyjet is cheap enough and someone can offer me a floor, I might just come and see if I can give those Falkirk guys a race on home soil................... I'm sure Alan Hart would like a pop at that Orange wing again, if he can catch it of course.............

Ok guys, the committee have come up with the date of:
SUNDAY 5TH JUNE for the off road race.
Hopefully this will be acceptable to all and we can get good numbers!
More details to come i.e. track design, rules etc.
Cheers.

will you be running any practice rounds or any type of racing as a trial before the event as im sure many people would enjoy testing there offroad thumbs again, and to try the layout and the general workings for the day
sdrcc
20-04-2005, 11:12 PM
Hi John,
We hope to have a trial track setup one weekend before June but feel free to bring your off roader to round 3 and we can have a play in the lunch break - that's what i'm doing ;)

Off road racers,
The Off Road GP is only 1 month away and we have only received 1 entry.......what's going on?
We were under the impression that there was quite a lot of interest in the meeting? I have just spoken with the committee and if we don't get at least around 20 entries then we can't justify putting a major amount of effort into the off road race, there'll be no trophies and it will be more of a 'fun day'.
So guys (and gals) apologies if this sounds a bit negative and apologies if you have all just sent off your forms this morning........but I want to race my RC10 against other folk! There are 13 folk who have voted to race 2wd buggy on the forum poll, and 7 for 4wd so get those forms sent off please!
Any questions just shout.........
Shhhhh, everything will be alright Dan! ;) Count me in on helping get the track together too if you need though I don't think I'll be able to make the practice race the week before. I'll dust off the B4 (yes, we run on dust in Australia) and I'll get the entry form for you tommorow.
I need to get some tires too. What will the track be like? Long grass, short, dirt, astro, rocky or a bit of a mix. I'm keen to get some tires sooner rather than later.
Thanks,
Jason

if the track is where i think it will be, the surface will be grass. therefore the tyres to use are schumacher minispikes, green compound if the grass is damp, when the grass dries out during the day you change to yellow compound. you can fine tune how much grip you get by trimming spikes off the outer and inner edges. trimming spikes also helps stop grip roll.

The track will be where off rod used to be run at sdrcc, on the grass where the humps are.

hey guys, just sayin that i will be comin to the event just not sent my form away, i have just dug out the ole rc10 out of my cupboard. does anyone know what shells will fit that just any normal buggy shell and where can i get a spoiler for it i seam to have lost the original one
kenny
Hi Kenny,
Send in your form asap please!
I too have an original RC10 (worlds car).....not sure if any of the modern shells will fit the tub chassis. Your best bet is either to call CML as thats where I still get spares for mine, or look on ebay.
Any off road rear wing should fit, as long as you have the wire mount?

You should be able to get shells for the B2 or maybe B3 shells fir it too?? Check with CML as you say.
MY RC10 was my first 2wd buggy, before that I had a kyosho turbo optima mid which I tried to change into a Lazer ZXR but didn't quite get there......
I am looking forward to getting a blast from the past too!

i think a B2 and B3 bodyshell where pretty well the same shape, so either should fit.
how is the entry list looking?

2 more for 4WD Buggies (Allan and I), sending forms off tonight.
Will there be practice on the Saturday? Assuming that the racing will be held where we park the cars for on-road events, where will we be parking and pitting?
John
sdrcc
22-05-2005, 06:16 PM
Hi John,
We'll be pitting and parking at the far side of the gantry and parking far side of the on road track/dust area to the side of the track (that make sense?) - we'll need to set up the off road track so cars can get by, sdrcc used to run off road so it's been done before. There should be some practicing on the Saturday after track setup to see what everyone thinks of viewpoint/variety etc.
See you there!

does truck mean monstertruck

Hi Jimbob,
Yes, the 'truck' class is for nitro and electric (brushless & brushed) monster/stadium trucks.

Well after me starting this thread, buying a car (or 2) so I could race, turning up, entering, I didnt manage one single lap....what a disaster!! A re-think is required, I believe and my enthusiasm to race 1/8 rallycross is greater than ever.
Until Sunday I had no interest in monster trucks at all.....toys.... I thought!!
But man has my opinion changed, they looked so much fun, they were much quicker and handled better than I ever imagined.
So in short, even though my racing came to nothing I had a fantastic time, thanks SDRCC.
