just a quick question is it true the that the nitro cars cause damage to tarmac race surfaces from the oily deposits from the expelled exhaust and damage the rubber tyres.

forgot to add there is a BRCA class, 200mm IC rubber, http://www.brcatenthic.org.uk this runs on many tracks in the Uk even the only class to have used Stafford, they use rubber tyres,on tarmac. infact after one of our meetings at Stafford, a top electric driver went on the track after our national and commented that there was more grip, if memory serves me right that driver won this years mod national championship!
your source is talking from his bottom im affraid

i asked the question as i have been trying to sort out a race calender for next year and it seems that some people belive that nitro and petrol driven cars don't mix for the reasons mentioned in the original question so i decided to ask here as you guys have had more experience of mixed types at different venues. i appreciate honest answers

Paul, as you know, we have run electric (on rubber), 1/10th IC (on rubber) and 1/5th Scale at the same meeting with no adverse change to grip whatsoever. Whoever said it did are speaking through their fundamental orifice as Mark said.

The only damage I know of is that with 1/5th cars over a period have polished some sufaces reducing the grip, but as for Nitro fuel?
More often than not the grip at an Aldershot meeting a week after an IC Foam National meeting is higher than at any other time of the year and can actually cause grip roll problems.
If anything it is the additives used by Electric drivers in damp/wet conditions that harms the track at a meeting, but even that washes away by the next meeting.

and also tarmac is designed for full size cars, which belch out much more junk than our littler ones...

It doesnt damage the tarmac, but i have heard you can have problems with oil build up. Although its never been a problem at my club (uk) And you could easyly clean it every 3/4months with a presurewasher if it was a problem.

Only thing I have ever heard is that they lay more rubber on the race surface (weight of the car causes more rubber/foam scrub I guess). All this will do is lay a black line where the racing line is (which maybe isn't a bad thing when you need something to follow).

Apart from that, even if a tank of fuel did happen to spill on the track, I think some good old fairy in a bucket of water, light scrub and eh voila, all sorted (this is what I used on my model airplanes after flying, they are covered in the castor oily substance, and the fairy just cut through it)

Had a Serpent guy recently at Aldershot hit the chicane kerb with enough force to burst open the tank, this was almost full and spilt all over the racing line in the middle of the chicane yet the lap times never dropped.
