Can any one tell me if the new Torx screws are a direct replacement for screws that go into alloy parts that already have threads in them?

Thanks

They are M3 machine screws. Personally i hate self tappers so i use M3 in nearly all applications on my cars.

Matt's right - lots of people were already tapping machine M3 screws into plastic already, and doing away with self-tappers. Worth noting it is tricky to get self-tapping screws from most titanium manufacturers.

The TORX screws have a very secure six-way "slot" for a TORX-screwdriver to fit into. Much easier to tap a machine screw into plastic using that tight fit, than it is with a Phillips "X slot".

Yes, see me,

I will have Mission (and possibly other cars too) Torx Screw kits available at the BTCC at WLRC on Sunday for £2.00 per set (thats a car's worth + a couple of spares).

These screws are direct replacement for most of the screws on the car (motor screws are an exception because you cant get them in Torx). There are 2 lengths of Self-Tappers (1/2" and 3/8") and one length of Machine-Thread (M3 thread, 12mm in length I think).

I will make the screw kits up to suit your car (ie if you have a full alloy car you will want a different set of screws to a fully plastic car).
