Hey all,

I've been out of the RC scene for quite a few years now and am looking to get back in.

I'm amazed how far things have come in 8 - 9 years. Back then, and especially where I live, distribution and parts were always a problem. These days I can choose from such a wide range!

On making enquires at a local shop, the sales assistant pushed quite heavily a Ho Boa car - Hyper 10 RTR.

This particular shop are the distributors for this brand...

The car seems a good buy, but can anyone give me any unbiased advice, opinions on the car?

I am having trouble finding info about Ho Boa on the net, can anyone help?

Cml are the distributers for Hobao!
shops only supply.

the cars is a good entry car, it depends what you want to do race or play?

mainly play, but I do want a car that is flexible and doesnt skimp on the features. I dont want a car that I'll out grow in 6 weeks and be stuck with. If I decide to get into racing again, i would go out and buy something more suitable.

The Hyper 10, how does it compare to similar cars in other brands?

I knew a few people who had the electric version and the quality was non existant, very poor shocks, dogbones, and the diffs were an absolute joke.
Save your money and buy something with a better reputation.

the cars aren't bad but little exists in the way of improving the cars, they break front drive shafts and to lower the ride hight the shocks need to be internal spaced. for the money they were good valve but with the likes of the schumacher and yokomo for the same price i would say are a better long term investment, but if you want a buggy then your in the right place,

The car you stated Cartman looks descent enough but the hyper 10 rtr as said above is not much more than a run-around.
and not great quality at that :'(

Interesting stuff.

Would anyone like to recommend a car, similar to that of the Hyper 10, that offers good value for money and is of good quality?

Hi
I too am a newbe ( 4 months)
I am running a ho bao and have no problems at all apart from the diff's They are very stiff regardless of settings. Apart from that it is a great learning car as there is not so much to set up. It is a competitive car and has earned me the “most improved driver award” at our local club.
Good luck and happy racing

Mrbrok
you have pm

Kev that is a pretty strange problem you are having, i've only heard the diffs working their way loose, not stiff.
Could there be anything lodged in the teeth of the belts or in the doff pulleys (teeth on the diffs) ??

origanally had a problem with the diff coming loose so i had to locktite the adjusting screw. I strip and clean all the transmition parts after 10 runs (2 indoor Meetings) The Thrust rings have a groove in them where the balls run so i turned them over and this helped a little, however if you spin the wheels they stop imediatley and dont run on like the tc3's at our club. I am going to try some new ball bearings maybe they were damaged when it was slipping.
Any advice would be welcome before i throw pound notes at it

You will never get your car to run on like a TC3 whatever you try. Sorry to be so "anti". The transmission on a TC3 is just so good.

Have to agree with Jon
the hyper 10 is a learning car so theres no point in throwing pound notes at it.
After you are at the stage where you cannot push it any further move on to a higher spec chassis

worth looking at www.they sell to public so sorry its a shop and breaks the ruleHobao in USA called Ofna for some obscure reason.

Obviously not suitable for suppliers etc... but still worth a look IMO.

Regards

Jason

Ofna is not Hobao! ofna sell some Hobao cars as Ofna and also there own brand!
