For anyone who hasn't been to the Club for a few weeks, or hasn't read the website recently - a quick reminder that the Autumn Series starts this Friday (30th Sep) and runs for 10 weeks - best 6 rounds to count, so you can afford to miss a few!

Paul,

annual membership of the Club is £5 per year, from January (so will be less from now to year end). Weekly race fees are £4 for members, with a £1 refund if you stay behind to help pack away. Race fees are £5 a week for non members.

If you're not already, then you also need to be a member of the BRCA (£10).

There is more detail on the club website:

www.ketteringmcc.co.uk

What else do you need to know?

Colin

Thanks for the info on membership fees and weekly racing costs. I have the BRCA membership as i had to get this to race at the corby club.

I am thinking about joinin the club after christmas then i can race the whole season and start in the new series if there is one running. i take it all rules are subject to the BRCA rules, for the motor extra.

Many thanks

Paul

Paul,

you are welcome to come along and race at any time - this week will be week 4 of the Autumn series - so still 7 to go and you only need to do 6! Most of all, we try and keep the racing fun - as it can all get a bit much if we start to take ourselves too seriously!

We will probably run another series in the Spring - as we have followed that format for the past 2 years and folk seem to like it.

As for rules, we are pretty easy going apart from the following:

- Treaded rubber tyres only (no rally blocks or mini pins)
- No tyre addatives
- 27T stock motors only, which can include bearings if you want
- 5mm ride height minimum (to protect the carpet)

You can run any bodyshell you fancy and we don't worry about dimensions, or weight for any club racing.

We have handout transponders, but can also accomodate Personal Transponders - and we have a couple left to sell to Club members if you don't have one and wanted one.

Look forward to seeing you race at the Club sometime.

Hi Colin - just a quick question!

Do you have to be part of the series in order to race? i would like to come within the next few weeks, but dont want to upset the series if i dont wish to take part!

Also, is there a racing calendar, as i couldnt find one on the club website! thanks for any info, James

Dave I

The racing calender is really simple:- Friday evenings from 7pm there we go.

As for the series just turn up and race, we dont exclude people just because they arnt doing enough rounds.

Hope to see you soon

Cheers

Hi James,

"Do you have to be part of the series in order to race?"

Absolutely not - the series is a bit of fun and brings a competitive edge to those who like that sort of stuff (not me you understand :p )

Anyone can come at any time either during or between the series it doesn't matter, so you are more than welcome.

Whether we are running a series or not at the time, each race meeting follows the same format of 2 x 3min qualifiers and 2 x 5min finals, with both finals counting to your overall finishing position. We "grade" drivers in the qualifiers by ability - based on their result in the last series, or using the extreme skill of guessing* if you haven't raced with us before!

* This entails asking the $64,000 question "Are you any good?"

"Also, is there a racing calendar"

I'm not quite sure what you mean by a racing calendar - we run every Friday apart from Good Friday and those Fridays at Christmas and New Year.

Look forward to seeing you at the Club sometime.

Thanks for that colin, i may come along tonight to watch as my car isnt unpacked from the housemove yet (i dont know where it is!)

by race calendar, i meant a list of dates raced - at NRCCC there were quite a few nights where we couldnt race due to the Newark Showground having other engagements.

I'll just have to see if the missus will let me out to play now

Afternoon,

Has there ever been any interest in setting up a midweek club in Harborough.
I will come down to your meet at some point but Fridays are often dificult.
I wouldn't mind trying to set up a club, do you think it would be a goer with people from Kettring and COrby?

i was extremely disappointed with my racing on friday!!! my qualifying times were rubbish lapse of concentration!!! *slaps wrists* but by the end of the night i was enjoying the track even know it was a 'busy' track. re set all my car slightly stiffer dampening on the suspension and slightly softer on the front for my qualifying times so hopefully fingers crossed i will be back with avengense to beat Colin and Dave!!! hehehe the dynamic duo of fa1 hope your all ok!!!
speak to you soon
also personally iamb not too keen on the market harborough club but thats only because of travel arrangements...

I think Friday's track was a good one. Made a change from our fast fast tracks, it was good to have something technically challanging. Was reasonably happy with my result. I mucked up the second leg of qualifying where I was on for an improvement but threw it all away. Never mind 2 start to finnish wins in the finals sort or made up for it.

I dont think we have anyone on Friday that travels from M'Habro. As for setting up a club I would make sure you have a number of people who are willing to help before considering it. Otherwise you are going to find yourself doing a lot of hard work!! Come along and have a chat one Friday.

hey all just thought i would post cos i thought that the forum was dieing again!!! again another dissapointing week for me. i can see me losing my 1st in f2 very very soon and i wont get in f1 for another year!!! *sobs* fingers crossed i might have something up my sleeve driving wise to pull it all back. but i will not be racing this friday because of watford on sunday. and the way its going i dont wanna break my car and rush about on the saturday!!!
hopefully something might arrive just before the new year just to have a test with it for one round. ;) i will have to wait and see!!!

Colin Williams

OK Jamie - but I don't see how you are going to get any better with your fingers crossed and stuck up your sleeves - how will you operate the transmitter :p

Looking at the results you may well be right - if you are not racing on Friday and Elliott tops qualifying and finals, he will overtake you by one point, making it interesting for the last two rounds!

I was reasonably pleased with my performance last week, considering the car broke on lap 1 of the first leg of the finals! Hopefully if Mike "fettles" my motor for this Friday I might get a reasonable result and keep myself in F1

So who's next on my hitlist - ahhh Dave - I'm coming to get you - just got to get 4 points out of you to keep me off the bottom of F1 once Dan, John and Rob zip past this week

Colin
You may be in luck this week. I have completed a major setup change based on discussions with John and Dan last week. Hopefully we'll see a more stable lab this week but not sure if I'm going to have the cornering performance. More than likely given my "tuning" track record it'll go like a dog's dinner (after its been through the dog!).
Got to try something though - fed up with being consistently the 4th quickest driver.
Cheers

Well what a disater that was. So much for using another car, then having to swap bits back onto my own chassis!!

Never mind, have just finnished building up the new Pro4 Hara Edition, seems good so far. Need 2 good results from the last two rounds or bye bye F1 me thinks.

See you all Friday

Colin Williams
21-11-2005, 01:18 PM
Hmmm, well my result wasn't much better - I just couldn't get that sweeper right all night! I've changed the setup slightly now and got newer tyres on the front, so I'll see how that goes this week.

Dave - why are you worried about leaving F1 - I'm still below you :(

Colin

And so you should be.... Sorry

Just seem to have had a bit of a disaster this series. Not been happy with my performance this time round. The old PRO4 had too many issues I think and I never realy settled with the Lab, so hopefully the new HPI will sort out my reliability issues.

See you Friday

I did say Sorry!!!!

Looks like Elliot and Jamie could well be on the move to F1. There seems to be a few people who have seriously improved recently, Luke, Jamie to name but a couple!!

Just goes to prove we have a good racing format I think.

It really does depend on the outcome of the next two weeks racing, and the numbers in the Club. We've taken the view in the past that F1 should be for the top 20% of the membership, so it depends where you draw the line for cut-off!

We also need to take into consideration the Spring Series results as well as the Autumn Series to detemine formula ratings for 2006.

Colin

I've started to look at the formula's based on an average of the Spring and Autumn results. So far, it looks like Elliott will be moving up to F1, with Dave just about hanging on in there! I will probably take a drop into F2, with Jamie staying there as well.

Simon Williams and Sam Hunt will probably go up into F2, and I don't think anyone is likely to drop from F2 into F3.

All of which goes to show that we must have the formulas pretty well matched to driver abilty :)

Of course it may all change a bit after the last round on Friday

Its a bit of a tough one for me. I'm not quick enough to challange for the top end of the A finals. However I suppose its better to be a slow F1 than a quick F2????? Not sure...............

Was very happy with the new car on Friday though. Seemed a lot more precise than the old Pro4 and a lot lot more reliable. Have fitted a diff in place of the spool for this week so hopefully an A final for the last round. Now if I get 101 points what would that do for me.................

Probably 30+ years at Her Majesty's Pleasure, because you would have had to nobble quite a few other drivers :p

Thats funny!!!!!!!!!! Stranger things have happened. What I need is about 7 feet of snow after I get there so no one else can get into the building...... clutching at straws maybe :p

Yea, it's difficult to know which is better - and it doesn't really matter all that much provided you are still racing with other drivers who give you a good "race" for your money.

I've done all the formula's based on ability and it is about where you draw the line, so up to last week, with the average of spring and autumn, it looks like this:

John 99%
Dan 98%
Nathan 98%
Tony 93%
Rob 93%
Elliott 92%
Dave 90%

Jamie 89%
Colin 88%
Luke 84%
..........

But, if Jamie has a good run on Friday, his overall may go up to 90% - so then does he go up, or do you drop down? - Not an easy one to decide!

The Autumn Series final results are now all posted on the Club Website

Well done to everyone who took part :)
