I was wondering what the F-201 is like?
I am currently into off-road and the only on-road experince is with my brothers TL-01 :D
I have noticed that my local on-road track has just started a F1 class (27t stock) which looked like a fun way to get into on-road RC. The F-201 is the only F1 RC car thats being produced that i know of - they said any 1/10th F1 - so if you know of any others can you please mention those as well.
thanks

You will like the F201. The car is easy to build, inexpensive to purchase, and a blast to drive. If you start up with the new class, you will discover that it is a pleasure to drive. One thing you must keep in mind is that it is a plastic car. So hitting the boards or other cars may break an arm, so drive carefully!

Aren't there any clubs there that have a F201 class?

We Race F103 and F201 together at Coastal Model Car Club IPSWICH
They are evenly matched well nearly

The F201 should easily out perform the F103. Or, your F103 drivers are better than your F201. ;D

No sorry the F103 has so much straight line speed you would not belive it but though the twisty bits the f201 has it by a long way .........................
The turn in on the 201 is so much better you would not belive it if you have not seen it ..........................

F201 is very expensive, because arms and other plastic parts are very soft and fragile. F103 rules ;-)

We run a general F1 class. 2wd and 4wd run together and at the moment the top 4 places in the series are all 2wd. This is a mix of F102 and F103. Ballistic down the straight but cornering is exciting!.
2WD is much, much more fun to drive.

What do you guys run for stock motors and gearing for the F201 for your big tracks?
Thanks in advance.

Just converted my F201 with the full 3 Racing carbon chassis, FPM alloy arms, alloy shocks, titanium drive shafts (both centre and wheel) alloy motor mount (adjustable) titanium screw kit etc etc etc. Built it with new shell decorated in Jaguar colours and decals. Looks good cant wait to try it when the weather turns nice. Seem to have a lot of Tamiya bits left over though............

The F201 is a blast to drive and yes, the plastic bits need care as you can easily tear a screw through the gearbox when you clout something but....
They are fun! 8)
I did Eurocup last year and I had radio bother at 3 out of 5 rounds (now fixed I hope) but I am still coming back for more in 2004... ;D
Now have 3 f201, 2 x Eurocup spec and one 3i alloy/carbon.
Watch out for the williams shell, the ferrari/no name shell is more friendly the Williams shell+wing set ideal if you like mega turn in! :o

happy new year all.
I have some questions about the F201 which will be simple to most of you but as i have not yet bought the beast I feel its best to ask first.
Question 1. Is it possible to adjust pinion sizes and if so, by how much?
Question 2. Is there plenty of room to fit radio/esc/servo?
Question 3. At the Eurocup race meets I notice all drivers in this group are provided a motor, what is it?
I hope some of you will spare the time to help me out.
Look forward to racing it in the Summer.

For the Eurocup:
There are two gear ratios available - standard and sport tuned. Sport tuned is the way to go.
There isn't much space for electrics: batteries must be stick pack, space for electrics is 6cm long, 3cm high and you can get at least 4cm wide, including overhang from the side of the chassis. You can fit a small receiver ender the driver figure. The space is exposed so if its wet you will need to provide some protection. I bought the MRT speedo as it fits nicely and is waterproof.
Motor for Eurocup to be finalised. Check out www.tamiyaeurocup.co.uk and in particular the forum for more info on this. Last year we had a Tamiya Type RR 23 turn motor.
Cheers
Simon

:)Thanks for that simon, I should be ok for the electrics then.
There looks to be a limited edition kit with all the hop-ups included available at the moment.
Anybody have one of these and what are they like over a standard car?

Hi all,
Just built an F201. Should the A arms on the top/bottom at the front of the car line up exactly or should the top one be a little further back?
The rear A arms are aligned top to bottom exactly.
Just wondering if it is part of the set-up or I've done something wrong?
thanks,
Keith.

The hole where the screw goes to hold the front upright is further back at the top - this is the caster. Caster is required for all cars, its just more noticeable on the F201.
