yeah looks good ! definetly a good competitor for the worlds.

Not sure why but it just dont click for me.. not sure i like it to tell the truth :( , maybe if it was red...

does this mean no evo4?

tomlau
03-11-2003, 07:19 PM
i like it! but i wasent as amazed as i thought i might be, still waiting for some better photos though.
Im surprised that tamiya have done this, i thought they would just develop the evo further into a evo4 and eliminate all the evo3 problems.

Tamiya_Racer
03-11-2003, 07:38 PM
yeah looks very much like the MI2.
i do like it dont get me wrong just something aint there , the exitement i normally had when i heard of new limited cars.

I heard that there was going to be some development to the evo3, maybe new car aswel that would be good or maybe a fix may be released.

who knows

MI2? you mean tech racing MY02 i think:

i wouldnt be surprised if tamiya continue to develop along side the 414/415 as they have done in the past. just the 415 will be their main car.

Tamiya_Racer
03-11-2003, 10:01 PM
NOOO MI2 eg schuey mission 2

Im not to sure, i was speeking to a friend and he was almost certain that Tamiya are developing either a new shaft car or updated conversion type thing for the evo3 aswell, really not sure only time can tell.

tomlau
03-11-2003, 10:16 PM
I know. The basic layout is the same, yes. but not the drivetrain. im guessing the MI2 has a drivetrain like the mission. the 415 is going to be nothing like that from what ive seen.

Tamiya_Racer
03-11-2003, 10:19 PM
not sure matey

but the 415 drive train does look VERY promiseing, defintly going to be interesting ill tell ya

John Davie
04-11-2003, 03:34 AM
There will be an EVO IV as the sticker sheet with all EVO's to date goes upto V if i remember rightly.

EVO III a great chassis let done by an under developed drivetrain.

hahaha john! i always wondered what those extra numbers were for!

cobra81li200
04-11-2003, 02:36 PM
For the moment, the prototype is a 2 belt car, with a "classical" drive train (i.e. not like the mission or assassin with the long belt going from diff to diff).

As it's still a prototype, the released car could be slightly different...

rc-racerke
04-11-2003, 08:09 PM
The car look just great !!!!! :D
I hope it will drive good !!!! :)

cobra.
i think the 415 is pretty much how its going to be as we see it now. the official announcement at the tamiya worlds is less than a month away. so i doubt the transmission will change at all.

cobra81li200
04-11-2003, 11:31 PM
You never know, there are at least 2 prototypes, who knows if there is one with a one belt drive train ? Anyway, for now on there are new pulleys (center and diff).

stulec52
05-11-2003, 04:14 AM
I love that the cells are all down the one side !!
yippeeee

I hope that Tamiya concentrate on one chassis for more than 6 months whether it be this or an evo car, this business of having to upgrade twice a year is getting expensive !!

Waco Jacko
05-11-2003, 05:41 PM
Tamiya do seem to be getting very serious, certainly very radical. I agree that it would be nice if they did settle down with a specific model to allow finances to accumulate for a little R & D and even getting used to the current (Evo 3).

As usual, all the pretty anodised stuff and carbon looks good, and as it's a Tamiya, I guess quality's assured... But at what price?

John Davie
05-11-2003, 05:48 PM
Hey Waco , about time you got on these forums ;D.

As for cost i have no idea but when it does come out it will cost a pretty penny or two.

g4t2
05-11-2003, 05:52 PM
In Japan it will retail at around Y58,000 which is around £310, not cheap but its quality will very good as usual. and hopefully it won need many hopups.

Tamiya_Racer
05-11-2003, 06:00 PM
Yeah does look pretty, haveing a sEvo3 im not sure i want it ... but i do ... and ill also want the evo4 :'( :'(

Money....... ???

Its going to be used at the next reedy i think and surikarn got his not long ago, look forward to hearing some reports on how it performs.

Tarnjit

g4t2
05-11-2003, 06:02 PM
yeah apparantly Surikarn got his yesterday...wish I had got mine yesterday..lol

Waco Jacko
05-11-2003, 07:54 PM
??? Sorry, have I missed a thread? Has Surikarn got a TRF415 or an Evo 4? The Surikarn Evo 3 is great, but there are 1 or 2 foibles that may be ironed out in a next evolution (as mentioned earlier.)

I'm torn between HPI Pro 4 or ...?

Tamiya_Racer
05-11-2003, 08:28 PM
naaa dont get the pro4 mate.

Got god results but thats the team drivers, i havent heard much but complaints from people that i no that have seen/driven them.

Apparently a really pain in the bum to work on, so get to the gear cases for example u more or less have to take apart most the car, top deck shock towers and so on !

Out the box its not very stiff compared to the other chassis like it. , not much aliminium needs some hopping i guess

Dont know really im sure after work on it , it will be an awesome car but from what ive heard it aint best of best ???

John Davie
06-11-2003, 03:55 AM
If they bring out the 415 with all the alloy bits it should be another good car from the word go! from the number of close up pics i have seen the drivetrain looks better toughtout. Maybe 415 is the code name for the EVO IV :o

Tamiya_Racer
06-11-2003, 08:35 AM
could be could be.

The reason why the evo3 wasnt a trf chassis is becasue the 414 was already on the market, would be a bad option 2 have both on

John Davie
06-11-2003, 11:02 AM
I may still get this chassis just for the findup factor at the Torc series, it was a classic when i won the first round at stafford and put tamiya in the tech sheet. The look on some peoples faces was worth all the expeance alone.

Tamiya_Racer
06-11-2003, 04:51 PM
hello

yeah i was reading that actually not long ago well done. I think the drive trains main problem is the prop shaft for the evo3, the fact that its slightly small and doesnt fit the pinions as tight as it really should. 1 piece prop shaft is great! means that tiny bit of extra acceleration but the play in the 3 piece is useful i guess. That is why... Tamiya is realeasing a new prop shaft for the car.

Going to be either 2 piece or 3, made of carbon and aliminium. slighlty longer and thicker too. sounds good.

If the drive train was fixes what do you think, would any of you guys concider it again over your SD's? What other things do you thnk Tamiya need to do. and just to make it relate to the 415,

How do you think the 415 will compare to a team drivers evo3? i cant wait to hear some reports on it after the reedy. I heard that it is still not 100% certain that tamiya will be raceing the 415 at worlds.. all will be told soon thought they say.

Tarnjit

i wouldnt mind a 415 if i can scrape up the money

Waco Jacko
07-11-2003, 04:16 PM
:) Thanks for the detailed replies... What John says makes a lot of sense re the poss Evo 4 connotation, although it will be very far from the original chassis design, in fact totally divorced! (but hey! you never know)

I would certainly consider the 'beefed up' shaft/ drive system and my drivings not good enough to notice the small differences that the acceleration will drop off with a 2 or 3 piece shaft (TC3 and SD's do it)

John Davie

I know pre-orders are now been taken for this car so if you want one when they come out early next year you had better get a move on.

cobra81li200
10-11-2003, 08:08 PM
Hey John, imagine the reaction of the guys in France when I TQ'd in the second round with my 414 M SSG + lightweight was : this can't be a Tamiya... I kicked some ae, XXX-S and Schum with that car, ha ha...

Got 2 415 on pre-order, although I don't think they'll be for me but for my mates...

Tamiya_Racer
10-11-2003, 09:04 PM
Cobra your just a show off :)

cobra81li200
11-11-2003, 11:59 AM
Ha ha, just realistic... The car's world champion and the guys still think it's a tank like the precedent cars...

g4t2
11-11-2003, 02:51 PM
Yeah I love it how most people don't believe me that my wcr is a tamiya...lol

Waco Jacko
11-11-2003, 05:03 PM
Hmmmm, this chassis sure is tempting... ;D

g4t2
14-11-2003, 04:58 PM
So whos pre-ordered one then???...I know I have ;D

Tamiya_Racer
14-11-2003, 07:34 PM
hmmm i would like to but at the same time not. I got a car i love at the moment, got so much undiscovered potential i feel. The 415 looks lovely but id rather wait... see how it goes at the reedy and maybe even wait till the worlds! if it wins then hey we have a worlds edition i bet.

Also i rekon Tamiya have a fall back plan if the chassis doesnt work out how it likes to... so im waiting to see :)

Tarnjit

PS: the fact that i am SKINT has nothing to do with it ::) ;D

Marc Rheinhard finished 2nd overall in the A-main today in the DHI cup. Hara took first place with his Pro 4. It was the TRF 415's first european race and it was also a TRF415 which took 3rd at the hands of Steen Graversen. Things are certainly looking promising for the TRF415.

Waco Jacko
12-01-2004, 12:08 PM
??? It certainly does look promising...

But what do I do with the mutts nuts of a Surikarn Evo 3 that is now rapidly going out of date?

I've even got an underbody and undertray for it...

If only they didn't change the models so often... ;D

Tamiya_Racer
12-01-2004, 06:22 PM
naa Waco your thinking about it wrong mate :)

im pretty sure if they had their Evo'z they would be doing just as good. To me i feel its reached a point where no car is as such better then the other. the 415 is seriously cool but the surikarn aint out of date dude! unless your surikarn :P

where did you get your underbody mate, could you PM me some details?

thanks alot

Tarnjit

Just following on from Tarnjit's comments on the fact that the Evo 3 is not out of date.....I picked this up on a Japanese Website and thought it quite funny :) I think it is making the same point:

Make of it what you will !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

'Thank you for viewing. タミヤ TB
エボ 3 is good, is, don't you think?. Drive is light and
keeping having wherever, it is fast. Also it is good for part
supply to be stable,! ! So. Isn't the one-way
ring gear broken immediately? Many hiding the ring gear in the
part box, you る over there necessary it is seeing. It is fast
finally! Simplicity! It is not broken! The ring
gear was produced. After I obtaining エボ 3 in sale day, when
several hundred packs (perhaps it does so far) travelling of 1000
packs or more and trial and error doing, you produced. As for
method of the ring gear which is not broken it is in addition to.
Simply, there was also a place where the money is required,
because of the part of other companies appears in タミグラ and the
れ is not and/or is not good. While solving these problems,
the ほ it is with it can make my method simply secure.
Furthermore also drive somewhat is, but furthermore it becomes
light. With あ this it will be opened from ring gear exchange
everyday life! Furthermore it added also the tech from this
time regarding ring gear protection and body precision rise.
There in pleasure. This exhibition for the first time
still they are several days, but you were surprised to the size of
echo. Everyone the ring gear was the weak point, don't you
think? it is. I cried considerably. Some days ago there
was such a thing. It was in the midst of practice travelling.
In sneeze became so about in straight. But the ろ where
straight it puts out and is and to be is the じ ょ ぶ? With
you think and without stopping that way sneeze was done. The
result was beautiful large crash. The thinking which is shy
considerably was done. In addition the damper stay of the
carbon broke. So the ring gear and the bevel gear were safe!
Above. As for this considerably there is an effect.
In any case you think loss that it does not do. By all
means please. Please do not abandon エボ 3. It became
long. Then we ask may.'

;D I think the punch-line got lost somewhere in the translation... (I guess I had to be there!)

My Surikarn (Evo3) chassis is still good... Great... Brilliant!

But as has been said of this chassis (and the former Evos) perhaps more R&D could have been spent on it, as opposed to releasing a different chassis time and again which is probably and ironically, a result, or an update of (extensive?) R&D anyway! ;D

Hey! perhaps we may yet see 415s trackside in the not too distant future...

John Davie
21-01-2004, 04:39 PM
Would like to see one close up and see it on the track but im not in a position to get one myself, still got EVO III and EVO III SE sitting around not being used. Too good to get rid off ;)

im pretty annoyed really... why ditch the Titainium screws and go for steel? why the dark blue and not the nice bright blue?

i like the centre front bodypost mount , looks neat.

Im guessing tamiya plan on releasing a hotted up verion later?

thanks

Yeah I agree with Tarn, I'm disapointed that they haven't included the parts which were originally shown on the prototype version, makes the retail seem a little too high :-

John Davie
22-01-2004, 01:25 PM
Well i guess they have to keep something back for a Surikarn Edition.

g4t2
22-01-2004, 03:56 PM
Very true, although you would expect tamiya to release new 'Hop-Up Options' as the car develops and these would be on the Surikarn Edition 415.

Nah "blue is better" as they say, besides we want SSG, red and SSG just don't work as well as blue.

The TRF 415 seems to have taken 1st and 2nd place titles at the recent Yama Yama Cup at the hands of Surikarn and Maezumi respectively. Maezumi looked to be running white belts which apparently are more lubricated, Surikarn was not running them, so it will be interesing to see if they make it to production.
