I just spotted this on the Novak site, I have the old Super Sport system which I have always been really impressed with... but... just how much better would a 5 1/2 turn brushless motor be???

Sounds like a lot of fun, how would these compare with the other systems out there do you think? Right now I'm thinking... I want one!

Novak’s Velociti-series brushless motors are available in both 5 1/2-turns (#3405) and 6 1/2-turns (#3406), and are compatible with the Novak GTB Programmable Racing Brushless/Brush ESC.

I've done some extensive testing with Novak over the past couple of weeks and I have to say that the new system is exceptional. I was actually very close to running it in the invitational class at the Reedy Race. If I'd had half a day more practice I would have used it. I didn't have the balls in the end because I would have been the only driver using brushless in invitational. Had I run it I think it would have been an unfair advantage. It had more punch-- it was faster and run time was over a minute longer in testing. Others used the Novak system in the open modified class and they impressed a lot of people. Jarrad Scott qualified 2nd in the A main and I think 2 others were also in the main with the system. I like it and think its something positive for the future.... Jarred destroyed the field in the last leg of the finals....

Hi Craig, good of you to take the time to post more information on your experiences of this new Novak system.

It does sound like its going to be very impressive, I know you sometimes run off-road as well, have you had time to try it in an off-road car? I guess it should be as impressive.

One question (I think I read on Doughty’s site), someone said that the motor you (and other team members) were testing was not the 5 1/2-turns (#3405) or 6 1/2-turns (#3406) but an even faster version that is not due for release just yet! Is that true or is someone just trying to stir up crap?

David

Edit the coments regarding the motors being used not being 5 1/2 turns or 6 1/2 turns was on radiocontrolzone.com not Doughty's site, my bad.
