Hi, could someone tell me what range of pinions I should go buy for my XXXS G+ for running indoors and outdoors, mostly doing stock, but may venture into the odd Mod round....

Only reason I ask is that what I thought was a full range of pinions in 64dp, I think there must of been a few swapsies a few years back, so got big holes in the range.

Thanks

Steve.

That gives me the ranges that I should be looking at.

Is that on the standard spur, or have you got the other two spurs too?

On the XXX + with orange kit 90 tooth spur and yellow belt i have only ever used 26 thro to 32 , even on my local indoor track which is a lot smaller than most, using Monster Stock 27 turn stock motor.
Hope this helps

On the indoor track Kev is talking about, I use 22/23 (depending on tyre wear) on the 88 spur. Using a Trinity Revenge of the Monster stock motor. Outdoors with 12 turn motors I run either 27/28/29 on the 88 spur. The car has won numerous A Finals so it must be good... and I got a trophy at the KO GP :D

Steve mentions 64dp in his initial post, i've been using 46dp. Am i gearing wrong ?
It's been recommended to me to use 22 -32 pinion range but at 46dp

I Love this car !

Do you mean 48dp as 46dp doesn't exists? I use 48dp with no problems, 68dp is slightly more efficient but harder to mesh. dp means degreese of pitch, meaning the angle of the tooth 48dp is a wider tooth compaired to 64dp

I run a phantom 27t stockand i run a 21 or a 23 on my small indoor track.I also run 14x2 modified. For this I run a 19. These are all with an 88 spur.

I prefer to use 48dp purely because I have more pinions and it is easier to mesh, I have never noticed much difference between running either 48dp or 64dp.

After looking at a few tech charts in the mags, a few top Losi drivers still use 48dp (I think Spash still does) and a few use 64dp - mostly in stock class where gearing is critical and using 64dp can achieve the perfect ratio, although indoors gearing is slightly less critical in my opinion (smaller track needs more skill).

Has anyone tried the BK pitch spur gears on their XXXS? They are made by Trinity (the BK stands for Brian Kinwald I think) and are inbetween 48dp and 64dp - 56dp. Or has anyone tried the new 64dp kevlar spurs?

Believe it or not i run a 17 pinion on a small track using 88 spur and a green machine 3 motor.

i'm running a 20 pinion with the 90 spur (A gearing or 8.24 i think), then again I'm on an indoor track pulling low 12's on a Matrix V10R

on carpet i run a team orion core-12x2 with an 18t pinion and 88t spur and it goes fantastic ;D
