Sorry, that could be OTT for the usage, basically, skin your motor when either you got arcing marks on the com and they wont clean away with motor cleaner (black marks on the edge of the comm segment) OR when the brush has gone blue(ish) in colour.

Depending on what surface you are running on, what car you have (tourer/off road 2/4wd), and how you drive ALL affect the intervals of skimming, and it is something you must monitor after EVERY run.

sorry maybe i was i didnt know wether it was serious racing or what. I race a tc3 at high competition level events so i would say after every 2 runs. If its not so serious maybe skimm after every meeting.

No probs, if you race on clay, then skimming intervals SHOULD be longer than hard use on tarmac ;D

also depends on what motor he is using,if its a low turn then yes every 2-3 runs,a high wind 14-27 turn im sure you would get 2-3 meetings with endurance brushes.

if i do 3+ runs then my 12t will need a deeper skim, i do it every 2 runs now and found i get better performance and generally less deep a skim..

i skim my motors at nationals afetr every run, and at club every 4 runs (12th scale)

i find my comms last longer if they are "true" because the more you run your motor, the less true it will be, the less true the more wear etc etc and it quickly wears out!

Matt, If you are skimming every run in 12th then i would say that you are making work for yourself!! I was skimmimg last week after 2-3 runs, and my Ti motors really didn't need doing that often. 3 runs and hardly any marking.

i know i know.... its more work, but if anything goes even near wrong then i get paranoid and think "what if"... so if i do it after every run, i can only blame myself.

wierd mentality i know, your tecnique obviously worked matt, you had an absolute blinder! nice one ;)
