My m8 has been having trouble with the gears in his servo's :(, whilst running it in his TC3, he has a KO713 + 1001 + another (not o sure what it is!), he has been having this prob for a while now, but can't seem to get rid of it, for the last 6 meetings we've been to he has managed to strip the gears, and it's not as if he hits anything because he doesn't? ???, Ihe even managed to do the gears in a standard servo this weekend!!, he's is now fed up of borrowing as he also managed to strip the gers in my servo >:(, has this happened to anyone-else, any ideas, as he is getting on all our nerves :P

Hi,

I was racing my TC3 on Tuesday and my KO713 just stopped (see my thread in the Radio Gear forum).

However on opening up the servo to try to see what was wrong I also noted that some of my gears had half stripped, in that a few teeth were broken off half way down. Not sure on the problem but I'm looking into it, will let you know if I find anything.

How has he got the servo saver set on the TC3?

I've had this one....

First check the servo saver setting on the steering. Then check the steering for binding. My problem was that there was gunk in the steering "ring" which was binding on the bearings (or bushes if you have them) which was causing extreem stress on the servo....

A damn good clean out and the problem went away.

Cheers Andy, we are racing @ Chippenham on sunday, so if it's not sorted can I shove him over to you!, if you don't mind :) I'll have a look at that thread now,
thanks Dave I'll be speaking to him 2moro so I'll let him know what to check ;)

When I first bought my 713 servo, I stripped several sets of gears before I fitted a seperate small servo saver (you do have to dremmel away a small part of the chassis to make it fit) and since haven't had any real problems.

Another problem with the TC3 is if don't have steering travel adjustment on the radio gear (i.e. to adjust the total "throw"), the servo can try to force the steering rack beyond the stops and that can also damage the servo - although a servo saver will help with that as well.

Hitec 925MG or 5925MG servos have metal gears and have NEVER caused me a problem in touring car (although in 4wd off-road and no servo saver I had a failure after a meessly 2.5 years ;D )

Cheaper than KO, as fast, as strong and last forever ... let me think, which to buy???? ??? ????

Seriosly, I have one of these in my 1/8th car with no servo saver ... no probs yet!!

AS for the TC3 there is a servo saver built into the rack, I don't use it, Hitec's don't seem to care either way and I hate sloppy steering.

I raced with my mate @ Chippenham on suday and he didn't seem to have a problem, but on questioning him I descovered that he had found an older servo which is a Airtronics, and has metal gears, so I think if he sticks with this I'll be free of headaches and he can get on with racing ;D

Ive also had this problem. It was due to muck from racing indoors in the rack. i cleaned it out an my problem has gone.

Ive never had this problem, mind you, Metal Geared Servos are the strongest, and thus more suitable servos for racing.

i think the main thing with the tc3 is to make sure the the steering assembly is always free from any dirt - especially indoors when you get all carpet fluff wrapped around them, in the manual it does actully show you how to make a lexun cover for this. After every race with mine i always make sure this is free from anything as the standard system only has bushings and is not ballraced..

Try That and good luck..

Ben.

it does???? I haven't seen this. Any chance you could let me know how to do this mod via P.M?

after speaking to a man that can on this matter the main cause for this is having to much steering that the car can atchally turn

it puts the servo under maximum load !!!

cheers al :o
