Not sure on the limit but I wouldnt advise anything hotter than a sport tuned motor.

Definitely nothing hotter than the Sport Tuned motor. Even the Tamiya 23T Stock motors (Types R, S and T) are too hot for this esc.

In one the Tamiya adverts ran in RRCI magazine, it said it had a 23t limit.

The Sport Tuned motor is 23T but with far less powerful magnets than the Type R/S/T 23T motors.

The instruction sheet for the teu-101bk does state that it is for the Sport Tuned motor, whereas the teu-302bk instruction sheet says that it is for 23T motors without specifically mentioning the Type R/S/T motors.

Richard said he has run a 12T mod - he didn't say for how long - with his teu-101bk, so maybe it has better capabilities than Tamiya are admitting to.

Thanks Richard for the info. So, the teu-101bk would seem to be more robust than Tamiya are owning up to. Given what this thing can be bought for on a well known internet site, it must be good value ;)

Ive just brought a second hand car which came with a TEU-101bk and a 19T motor.

Im having the problem that if I accerate, the car starts plusing...goes about 2foot, then cuts out, then another 2foot etc etc

If I slowly accerate, and gradualy build up to full speed, it works fine.

Ive just looked up the Turn limit for it, seems to be about a 23T (from what people have said)

I think full accerating is just pulling to much current for the speed controller to handle. causing it to cutout every couple of feet.....

===--EDIT--====
I took the car out yesturday for another test...I was having the same problem, until I swaped the battery....the 1700 second hand one that came with the car must be faulty/passed it best by date

brand new venom 1800 battery I put in, had no problems at all
until it started running flat (about 6-8minutes) then it started to pluse again.
(didn't have this battery at time of first testing)

I think my idea up the top must be backwards, the ESC trys to pull the current, but theres not enough there, so it cuts out.

Correct, its got a 23t limit. Its a good idea to get a Novak XRS or Mtroniks ESC for around £40.

Hi,
Can you run a 3cell lipo with this speed controller.?

I wouldn't advise running anything more than a sport-tuned when it is a hot day. if you are running outdoors in the winter or a cold indoor venue then you could get away with a 27t, just :)
