Hello guys. I am new to all this and would like some help. After visiting your meeting a few weeks ago I bought myself a second hand car/radio gear to get me started. I have bought some extra crystals and am all ready to go but am not sure whether the motor is "legal". It is a Corally street touring motor but don't know anything else. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Greig.

Hi
You need a 27 turn 'Stock' motor. I dont think your Corally is Stock I'm afraid. The 27 turn motors are cheap to buy and with proper care will last you a long time. And dont worry, it may be stock but it's far from slow. If you cant get a legal motor before your first week dont panic we wont turn you away.
What car have you got? Anything else you need to know dont hesitate to ask.
Cheers
Dave

If it's a street racer then it won't be 27T. According to the Corally website it will be either 12, 14 or 16 wind (turn or T). You can check it out here:

All 27T stock motors are capped at around £29 and pretty much any would be OK. Mike Smith at ModelTech carries the range of Matrix motors, which are used by quite a few drivers, and there is also a wide range of others available form other shops.

Thanks for your help. I intend to come to the next meeting (April 1st). My car is a Tamiya TA03F. I thought about buying a new car but thought I'd better hone my driving skills before I splashed out! I quite fancy the HPI Sprint 2.
