Either low on the chassis in the middle to keep the C of G low, or at the appropriate place on the car and so balance the weight and moment of the car (fore/aft and left/right)

For instance is all the weight of the car on one side of the chassis if so stick the PT on the other side. Is the weight at the rear of the car, if so stick it at the front.

Etc, etc.

you should be able to fit the pt inside the radio box. I have the receiver at the back a flat 6v battery towards the front and the pt sat ontop of the battery ! dont put it to close to the receiver though. there is plenty of room in the box if you want to get busy with different shapes of battery configurations but i ran mine like this for all of last years nationals and it didnt mis a lap. but cant promise anything !

Joe,

Thank you for the detail, what I was actually after is "Where on the R12 is the best place to put it, although I do appreciate what you said too."

Phil,

I don't know what receiver you have or the battery pack but I don't think I can fit my PT in the battery box :(

Perhaps I should look at getting a smaller battery pack ?

I'll have a go at trying to fit it in the battery box, but I was worried about the receiver and battery causing problems,

Thank you both and I'll report back once I've fitted it and done a few laps.

Cunning Mark very cunning................

I have decided to mount it on top of the battery box having spoken to Mr Wallis

Two reasons for this, the first is I've made some "Special mods" to my battery box, and the second is it will be easy to remove and place on another car.

By the way the special mod is a charging jack which makes life so much easier

You might just be able to see a 3mm jack socket, connected with a futaba switch, so charging is really easy, and the whole thing cost less that £4 to do, thanks to maplins. As you can see it means that there are NO wires anywhere outside the battery box with the exception of the leads to the servo.

It doesn't even pick up any water I've used this setup on really wet tracks and it's fine.
