Ive got a XXX-S and was wondering were you fellow XXX-S owners put your speedo as Ive seen them mounted on the battery side lately. Mine is currently in front of the motor but was thinking of moving it as I reckon it would improve air flow inside the car
What do you all think?
Chris,
The majority of people seem to mount it behind the motor, as do I in my XXX-4.
This leaves a little more space in front of the motor to allow air flow. I also mount the receiver to the side of the drive tunnel, just behind the servo. Again, this seems to be the most popular configuration.
I would not add it to the side where the batteries are, as this would defiantely make the car one sided. Put all the radio gear an the same side as the motor to counter balance the weight of the battery.

Hi
i have my speedo mounted just infront of the motor and the receiver placed on it's side on the servo.
i was told this decreases interferance rather than placing the speedo behind the motor and the receiver infront.
the speedo on the battery side............... can't say i've ever seen a losi with that configuration. :o
thanks Mike

Yep I have mine in front of the motor as well with the receiver on its side on top of the servo, thus.

I would go with this option, it keeps the power wires away from the areal as much as possible. the only problem it generates for me is having to run the transponder near the reciever

we run transponder on top of servo, have not had any problems yet

I used to run my speedo behind my motor untill i caught the nsr of my g+ chassis on a box at the side of my local track and ripped of the back corner damaging my speedo :( :(

I have ran the speedo front of motor and receiver (top of servo) for the last year and have found that by moving the weight forward in the car increase steering response.
The GP3300s however leave some need to further balance the car, left to right. The GP cells are quite heavy. You may need to counter balance the car to get equal weight distribution.

Yes I have counter balance wights in my car, I have some 25gm in lead on top of the servo for that reason, as even with 3000hv the side to side balance was quite bad, so with 3300 it is worse, but it dose give you very good turn in. Having counter balance wights dose hep in lessening the preload on the shocks on the side of the cells thus having a better balanced car.

I have the speedo in front of the motor - mainly because I have a fan behind the motor. I used to run the speedo behind the motor but changed to putting it in the front (because I thought it was giving interference). The thing that was giving me interference was the stupid Fruitaba handset - long live KO Propo!!!! ;D
After seeing most of the top drivers XXX-S, most of them run the speedo in front of the motor - Mr Doughty might be able to explain the reason behind that - shorter wiring??
*** Just read up a bit - ignore last paragraph! :-X :-[
