Just thought I would post my experience of first race of my new TRF (previously had TC3). Well I had it setup based upon someone elses setup sheet, and selection of blue + white springs worked well, initial practise run showed very good steering and good stability but a tendancy to drift out under power.

After 4th heat more changes made and definitely better, but is going to take a number of weeks to get a feel for the car.

Anyway in general I must say it was much better than my TC3, in fact I was placed 4th overall which is my best result ever at the club! and this is my first outing of the car!

Reaction at the club was of surprise that I had gone for a TRF instead of an XRAY but everyone was very impressed by the built quality, but questioned how hard it is to get replacement parts (I mentioned a certain auction site which is handy).

But biggest nightmare of the evening was the battery falling out twice! I used two lots of tape (supplied by tamiya for the purpose) and they still fell out.. Anyway I have now ordered the XRAY 6cell battery strap which I will fit.

Anyway, love the car!

Good to hear you like it!

I have noticed it drifting and that just takes time and knowledge to know how to stop it, which by the way, I haven't worked out how to fix yet :(

Yes the Blue + White springs work very well.

About the battery, the tape should have held it in place, but I (well my dad) made a custom battery bar job, and I use both at the same time.

The one problem with getting a battery bar is, the the length normally means that you have to drill and counter-sink where the tape would normally go through. When I looked at Ben Cosgroves car, he had a Schumacher Mi2 carbon Battery bar fitted, although, he had mounted it so the holes cut for the tape was blocked.

The replacement parts are hard to get a hold of, but hopefully (touch wood) you shouldn't need many parts as it doesn't break that much at all :) and belive me, the car has had its fair share of bumps, flips and barrel rolls!

Keep fiddling and let us know if you get I decent set-up, or at least a way to get rid of the drift.

Keep rolling

Thanks Dean,

I'll try and get one, hopefully it should improve my times (or it may just be me??? who knows :D)

I just replaced the rear plastic upright hubs with the alley hop up ones.. And realised i'd put the plastic ones on wrong way round :p so I had zero toe-in at the back, I am just amazed it was as stable as it was! So I now have it set to 1.5 , and I can reduce the toe in on the front.. So things should improve even more!

Must say the rear alley hubs are nice, well worth it.
