Has anyone fitted the new Delrin Diff plates, I've been avoiding fitting them just now because we altered our original ones to make them better.

Put them on an oilstone and ground down the sticky out lip and they have been great since then.

Just wondering if anyone has tried the new Delrin Diff Plates and if you have what do you think of them.

Had a full car rebuild on Sunday and ran it on Monday night for the first time with the new delrin diff bits, TQ'd and won the meeting. The diffs will feel a bit dull to start with but once you have run them they lighten up a bit and spin very freely.

Very very pleased with the cars performance though, as up untill now we had been having a slight problem : in that it would run very quickly and as normal untill about 3 minutes gone and then start to slowly lose punch and then rapidly lose any sensation of real power at all and would then just plod round at jogging pace. Firstly we thought this could be a battery problem but the cells discharged for 180 secs on the Pro-Trak, then we considered a motor/speedo/wiring loom problem so we swapped the Quantum for a Dominator Evo with a different set of wires and changed the motor. The problem persisted which left us pretty much dumbstruck.

Sundays rebuild also involved a really good charge of all my cells where I cycled the cells using the Pro-Traks and discharge board which brought some life back into my season old cells and just gave the new ones a "wee boost" when rebuilding the car I found that the bearings felt quite gritty so I cleaned them with petrol in my bearing bath which made them nice and smooth again. There was a bit of crap in the teeth on the diff drive pulleys ** note to RDX/Assassin owners - watch out for that one it holds the car back quite a good bit we noticed it more on the assassins than in the RDX but a clear out every so often won't go a miss.** Before going back racing I cleaned up all the motors and serrated the brushes this way I was sure I had ruled out any possible causes of the car slowing down like it was.

Overall really pleased with the car now as the diff problem has been sorted and It's been a long time since I scored 200 at my club.

We have not used the Delrin diffs yet, as the alloy ones seem fine and the car just gets better and better.

Dan is really happy with the RDX, keeps telling me how easy it is to drive?

Having seen the interest shown in it on Sunday, I don't think it will be long before there are a lot more of them being raced?

Ran a pack of cells through my car on monday with the new diff parts around bedworth but it was far too cold and damp for me to do much running as i forgot my wet tyres and slicks just could not heat up and get any real grip. I did find the car had plenty of punch ( too much for the slicks in the conditions ) and on the couple of dryish corners the turn-in was the best i have ever known with a ball diff up front.

Looking forward to some better weather so i can do some real testing  .

Run mine twice now, first time ran the alloy diff parts, changed to the delrin for the 2nd, diff started locking up, problem was the thrust had dismantled its self, so got a new one in now to try tommorow night.

Car is absoutly ballistic, pretty much KIT setup aswell, apart from over driving from me and breaking 2 wishbones, i agree with Dan its soooo easy to drive,

ROLL ON OUTDOORS!!!!!

Hi John,

I've been using the delrin pulley since they came out. Since then I have had no problems with the diff. I did a rebuild last night for the 1st time in about 12 meetings.

See you at WLRC on Sunday. I was their last weekend and was not happy with the performance on the Corally tires. Worked like a dream on CS22's. On the corally tyres the car kept breaking out into corners. To over come this I will be looking to raise the inside front links, try the thicker roll bar or increase the caster from 2deg to 4 deg. Not sure in which order or combination yet.

Andrew, I think you will find John means the new one piece all machined white delrin pulley/drive plate.

The SSB tyre has a wider/flatter profile compared to the CS series, this is in fact the main difference between the tyres, CS and SS.

When a tyre presents a wider/flatter area to the road, you need to reduce the camber change in roll. To reduce this effect, raise the inner pick-up point (as you indicated), which will reduce the camber change (good), but it will also just slightly raise the roll centre (which is not so good).

It is because of this that the CS is an "easier" tyre to reach a "working" set-up with simply because its profile is more accomodating to less than perfect set-ups!

Just remember, it is exactly the same for everyone, set-up is paramount in getting the best lap times with this tyre, when you have it, you will know it :)

Hi Mike,

Thanks for correcting me on the diff parts. I'll have a look at these bits on Sunday, if you have any with you.

I am confident that the car will go well this coming Sunday. Last weekend, swapping between totally different tires was always going to be difficult without making other car setup changes as well. As a result of using the tires, I will be turning up with a plan of attack. As the tyres are meant to work better when run in, I have at least acheived that!

It might also be hot on Sunday having just seen a weather forecast for Friday and Saturday. The track was fairly cold all day Sunday. Yet more changes to consider!
