Yeah there are a couple that i saw last night, but can't remember what they are!! Although i know there is some coverage on the RC Tech site as one of the main guys from that site there.

I'll have a look, but am a little wary of linking to them!!

Saw some pics of the CEFX car, front end looks odd!! 8) a little corally like.

Hi Keith,

Unfortunatly no holiday left, and the possibility of no job after Christmas >:(

Hopefully if I can sort things out, then I would love to go next year :)

Great to see Dave doing so well with the new car, interesting design.

From the photos I have seen it is a t bar rear end with straw dampers a la Trinity but with an adjustable rear pivot call location and holes in the chassis to adjust the pivot ball screws to remove play. Cell position is also adjustable.

The front end seems to be the key part with a wishbone front end, with adjustable upper link come roll bar made from GRP.

I can see this car doing really well if it is released over here in the UK

Great for the sport

Paul

The car does look a very neat bit of kit, would be interesting to see one in action.

Not a bad result first time out with a new car, well done Dave S.

Yes, congrats on the debut, Dave.

I suppose the burning question is "would Dave have won running his Trinity?" :o

Seems the 12th battle has not ended yet as rumour has it, team CEFX has put a protest in saying Dave's car got to the line first. Hope someone had setup a video camera on the finish line to help settle this one

Mark Stiles

In the results further up this page, it says that John Orr won my 0.73 seconds. Surely he was several feet ahead?! ???

Dave Treacy

Apparantly there is video footage which shows Dave crossing the line first. There is a photo on the rc-tech forum of the finish as well, which shows Dave about 2 inches ahead.

I bet they were using AMB-RC timing - as I have stated before, it cannot cope if two cars cross the line at nearly the same time, because of the arbitration that takes place between the transponders and the decoder. If the slightly later arriving car's transponder happens to get its code in first, it will be declared as having got there first, when clearly it did not...

rc_jammer
02-12-2003, 11:43 AM
Maybe John Orr's transponder was mounted further forward than Dave's so as they crossed the line, Dave's car may have been 2 inches in front but maybe John's transponder was 2.5 inches further forward ;D

marcoski

LOL good point.

Oliver
02-12-2003, 03:20 PM
Acctually you are wrong there Marcus.

They were using the Original AMB system - no PTs, no rc tracnsponders just the original Black Boxes. Also the timing was only to 1/100ths of a second - and the RC system (at that level) is fine - its only when you get to the 1/1000ths that theres a problem.

In my opinion - if a photograph or video of the race shows one car ahead of the other - then that car wins. Regardless of what the AMB system (or whichever they are using) says.

Maybe it was that their PC got a bit tired after running 4 days of basically continuous racing!!!!

Dave Treacy

I have viewed the video of the last 3-4 seconds of the race. Dave has the inside line coming out of the final corner and outdrove John to the line.

Seems the timing equipment needs checking.

Video not the best but it does look if Dave did get the better run out of the last corner, just a shame you can not clearly see where the timming loop is positioned.

Found this posted on another forum posted by Josh cyrul himself:

Just so everyone knows - Neither Spashett or myself put in a protest about the 1/12 mod finish. I will admit that I did write one up and I was ready to submit it but after thinking things through I decided to congratulate John Orr on a great drive and let things be. I am very proud of what was done in a short time and I am looking forward to the future - Next time I hope we are fast enough so there won't need to be a camera on the line...lol...
