 Hi
I have recently purchased a Nitro engine part #80052 and I need a bit of clarification regarding the set up of the carburettor.
The instructions included with the engine and on the Orion site clearly state that the high speed needle should be set to 1 to11/2 turns out and the low speed to 3 to 31/2. However I am having some difficulty keeping the engine running so have spoken to my local model shop(supplier) and he is of the opinion that the settings should be the other way round. This is obviously confusing me and would appreciate some help and confirmation on this.

What your dealer is telling you sounds right to me. I checked the Orion site and what you say is correct but it looks like they might have the settings the wrong way round. I generally run RB engines so I'm not familiar with the Wasp engines but for the RB around 1 1/2 to 2 turns out on the bottom and 3 1/2 to 4 turns out on the top is about right. Most engines use somewhere in this region as a base setting. Try reversing your settings and see what happens. The worst you'll do is have a very lean bottom end (not harmful to the engine for a short period) and a very rich top end that will do no harm at all.

Sorry, I can’t really answer that as it has not been used a great deal and has never been raced

But many thanks to Tristan of the Snetterton model shop who sorted the original problems out for me.
