Whilst I haven't completely given up on getting a Mako I may very well be buying a Yoke soon so I can get ready for the nationals. So can someone give me the low down on the car.
I believe the Associated shocks are regarded as essential but have no idea why?
What other bits are there are are essential or nearly essential for the car?
Cheers,
Dan

Associated shocks have a better knowledge base so we where able to get the car set-up on them faster than the Yokomo shocks.
Thats the only real reason.
Yes the body length / stroke isn't 100% for the BC's geometry but it's pretty good .... works better on a Mako though!!!
Mako on track at Tivvy this weekend .... 1, 2 or 3 cars in the A I'm hoping!!!
The only other things I have done to the BC Special are personal set-up issues.
Car is good out of the box!!!

Dan,
If you are at Batley this Sunday, come over and look at my Yokomoko. Its the red white and blue one.

Dan, I've not done much to my Yok and i've been giving Mossy a run for his money recently. :o
Basically Associated B4 shocks (with 1.32" rear shafts) and AE diff balls seem to do the trick. (a B3 wing also helps keep the back end planted.)
I've also found the B4 rear roll bar works well on tracks like Kiddie etc.
Other than that the cars kit spec. It's the best handling buggy i've driven for a while! ;D
P.S. I haven't driven the Mako though............yet.

Unfortunatly Chris I have to go to London ( :'( ) today for work so can't make it, thanks anyway.
Does anyone recal roughly how much the AE shocks are for front and rear?

Im getting the std BC in a few days. I know that it is cheaper to buy the special in the long run if you are planning on upgrading the std but I cant afford at the moment. How much roughly will it cost for shock(b4) front and rear, wheel base kit and other essentialls?

Sorry, not sure. I cobbled mine together from various spares (& some of my dad's B4). The shocks are std B4 fronts and B4 rear bodies with 1.32" shafts (I think these were std B2/3 shafts)
I wouldn't rush out & get the shocks straight away though. The Special kit shocks are superb. Gold shafts, threaded bodies, bleed screw cap etc. I have used them & they were fine. The main reason for the use of AE shocks is that there is more piston/oil setup data available. (& the shaft length/body length ratio may be slightly better). The only reason i run AE shocks is because I started with a base set-up using them and haven't had the testing time to find a good set-up with the kit shocks.
I think the Yok shocks will be as good if not better on most surfaces if some testing is done to determine optimium piston/oil set-ups.

Im using the Associated shocks, and like Gaz are cobbled together from spares since I put threaded bodies on my B4.
I notice today Neil Cragg has Yokomo shocks back on his Yokomo with AE springs, it'd be interesting to hear how they are setup..
